I played way to much of this the summer I spent in Connecticut. It was a lot of fun, but I don't think I've played it since.

Now this is a good game. Started at Lehigh University in the 1970's (and I don't care who tells you otherwise) no other drinking game can make people get so competitive trying not to drink beer. There are a lot of differnt ways to play, and being a purist, I get a little upset when people come up with some of these crazy rules. Like when the last cup is hit, the game should be over. But people nowadays try to extend the game saying they still get to throw balls. Bull. If you wanted to win that badly, you should have hit the cups. And the amount of crap people go through to keep this game hygenic is crazy too. I understand dipping a ball in a cup of water if you're playing on a dirty floor. But I've seen people put water in cups, and drink out of their own glass when they needed to drink. Craziness. If you and your buddies really want to spice this game up, play it like I did in college. Once a ball gets thrown, the first person to grab it gets to throw it. By the end of the night there's some tackling, and maybe a broken nose, but it's a fun way to play for the men. I could talk for an hour about my grievances on where this game has gone from where it began. But why bother. In the end, play it how you like, as long as you agree on the rules up front. Consolidate cups after every hit if you like, and have a garden hose nearby to hose down the table after each game. What do I care... Enjoy. Mike

Beirut, the proper name of the game, is also known as Beer Pong. Cups filled with beer are placed in a triangle at the opposite end of a ping pong table, or similar table. players throw ping pong balls into the cups at the opposite end in order to make their opponents drink. It is called Beirut, because when you play, people get BOMBED.
