 | spartacus007 (10) 05/09/2005 | This is one of the most right-on cases ever. They ruled that the University can use race as a general factor along with income, background, etc., when deciding applicants. This way they can reward a student who has had to overcome racism. But they don't allow a strict points quota or reverse-racism.

Why were there so few cases of racism, because whites know if they were to file a complaint they would get 0, as apparently was the case! So what the law school deserves a medal. Have you ever considered the reason so few blacks were admitted is because the only reason they ever got in in the first place was because of affirmative action? Maybe a little common sense would prove benifical, statistics don't tell it all! The only thing this stupid law does is allow unqualified applicants jobs based on the very thing this law was designed to eliminate, discrimination! Look at the statistics for medical school by race vs. gpa, then you'll begin to see what I mean. Blacks are no longer a minority anyway, I have black friends that have been discriminated against, and their jobs given to women or foreigners. So, maybe the black community is getting a taste of what we whites have had to put up with for years! THINK, I KNOW AFFIRMATIVE ACTION= RACISM PERIOD!!

 | mr john (0) 05/19/2004 | im sorry but you guys dont know what you are talking about, in first place we need afirmative action because without it, there is acism against the black people, i mean there is a fact that says that, When the ban on affirmative action was implemented at the University of California (UC)-Berkeley law school, the number of black students admitted dropped from 75 in 1996 to 14 (out of 792 applicants) in 1997; none enrolled. another ting you guys are complaining about is that you say that affirmative action equals racism against white right? well between 1990 and 1994 there were 3000 cases of racism, out of those 3000 cases only 100 were racism against white, and even worse, out of those 100 only 6 were claim valid. this was with the program of affirmative action running, imagine without it. im not trying to change your mind, youall can think whatever you want, but a fact is a fact, and the facts are there to show how affirmative action is needed in society

 | Junker279 (0) 08/21/2003 | Great day in the justice system. I'm so glad O'Connor decided to side with Souter and company to uphold affirmative action, and I'm white. It's very scary that she will possibly retire during Bush's term.

 | RebelYell1861 (10) 07/27/2003 | Naturally I'm against this since all affirmative action is nothing more than a hypocritical focus on race. Granting a job, financial aid, or school admission to someone simply based on race for the sole purpose of creating a more diverse environment or for any other half baked reason, causing someone more qualified or deserving to be turned down is absurd. The very idea makes me irate.....

 | Snoopy (5) 07/17/2003 | I don't think race should be an issue in who gets a job, gets into college, receives financial aid, etc. We should all be judged on our personalities and abilities.

 | Redoedo (41) 07/14/2003 | While I am somewhat in the middle as to whether or not Affirmative Action is a good thing in today's society, I found the Supreme Court's recent decision to be reasonable. While upholding the University of Michigan's policy regarding race admissions in order to create a diverse student body, I was pleased that the Supreme Court struck down the 20 bonus points afforded to minorities. This is the first major step towards ensuring that the most qualified person gets the spot in college, PERIOD.
