 | oshkoshjosh (0) 02/20/2006 | I believe Pat Nixon was a truly moral woman and she endured more than any wife should ever have to. But I also think she was a little out of touch and in lock-step with whatever her husband's advisors told her to say and do and act like. She never really stepped out on her own, never really promoted any causes that seemed important to her, and that gave the impression that it was okay for a First Lady to simply be the President's arm candy.

 | Redoedo (39) 08/24/2003 | She always stood behind her husband, through the good and the bad. She was a very active first lady, and took great pride in adding nearly 600 paintings and antiques to the White House collection. Pat used her position as First Lady to encourage volunteer service--the spirit of people helping people. She invited hundreds of families to Sunday services in the East Room. Overall, Pat was a good and courageous woman, and definately one of the more admirable first ladies of this past century.
