02/20/2006 | It seems crazy these days that a woman would actively oppose parts of her husband's policies, but Betty Ford sure did. I met her when I was a kid, and she always seemed preoccupied foremost with making sure Gerald was comfortable. She's an admirable wife and First Lady.

06/07/2004 | Without question the best of modern-day GOP First Ladies. She has a good heart and is sincere in speaking out in support of various issues. Had the courage to face her substance abuse problems and go public with it at a time when that was unheard of, when the phonies in public life kept that stuff under wraps. Have to give her a lot of credit for that. Very liberal thinker for someone on the GOP side, and her party would do well to adopt some of her thinking. Very practical and reasonable in her positions. Committed to the public good. Hard to believe that she hooked up with Jerry. He's a nice guy and all, and means well, but, what a dolt!
