Look in the dictionary under "Bitch," you'll find her picture. Now she was scary!

Scary. Who was really calling the shots, her or Ronnie?

Mean, conniving, manipulative witch. One of the worst first ladies ever in US history alongside Mary Todd Lincoln. I read Kitty Kelley's book on Nancy Reagan and I believed everything about her. She was cruel, she alienated her kids, she wasted my tax dollars just to purchase her china, and she she never paid a dime for her stinkin' red wardrobes. She let everybody do things for her. She was dim-witted and a darn throwback.

I think she is brighter than she is given credit for and I think she probably gave Ronnie some good advice.

When you step in duck poop, you know what it is. When you see a hag, you know what she is. Why are we confused. This bony old witch has the heart of a dung beetle and stands for nothing. First ladies are ridiculous - this one was absolutely dreadful.

Nancy Reagan was called The Queen of Beverly Hills. Neither she or Ronald Reagan had any empathy for anyone that wasn't rich. They'd been removed from average people for so long that there was no way they knew his policies hurt people very deeply. One of the stupidest things I EVER heard was Just Say No. I was a kid and I even wondered what the f*** was she talking about with that s***. She had NO clue. Reagan's legacy will be a staggering budget deficit, willful ignorance of the growing AIDS crisis (until his buddy Rock Hudson got it and died), racism (ran on white people's fears of blacks with the passing of the Civil Rights Bill). All Nancy ever wanted was power. She was Queen of Beverly Hills. She wanted to be Queen of the United States.

I saw red when she declared catsup to be a good enough vegetable for less fortunate school children. I'm sure she took better care for herself. But, from what I have read and seen....she probably thought catsup was good enough for her own kids, not to mention her step-children. High morals and family values?? Hypocrisy! She was a social-climbing self-centered woman whose love for her Ronnie left nothing at all for her family. I feel for President Reagan's children and grandchildren. I am watching the service in the Capitol....it is like Patti, Ron and Michael don't even exist. Instead of her insisting that her CHILDREN be at her side, they are pushed away for V.P. Cheney to stand beside her. I hope she is happy that she traded the comfort and stability of growing old in the bosom of a loving family for a few years of imperious power.

While she would not rate as my all-time favorite among First Ladies, there was a great deal to admire about Nancy Reagan. First and foremost is that she adored her husband and did all she could to defend him (or at least try to). She understood just how vicious many small-minded members of the Press were, and it seems they were everywhere the Reagans went, often trying to bring the president down. There wasn't a whole lot she could do about it. But how refreshing to see two married people who really treasured each other, and who added so much to each other's lives. People who are generally mean and nasty anyway tend to hate her, so she obviously must have a lot of good qualities.

OK by now its no secret that I'm a big fan of Ronald Reagan's policies, but one other aspect of my admiration concerns his incredible relationship with Nancy, which is a storybook story of love and sacrifice. She was an angel who served as the wife he needed her to be (that we all needed her to be really) to accomplish the amazing things he did. I love Nancy Reagan! See pp 135-144 of Peggy Noonan's excellent When Character Was King for more on this topic...
