I never really had any interest in her, other noting that fact that she spent at least part of her formative years in Edison, NJ, which was also the hometown of Susan Sarandon (it's in the central, heavily polluted part of the state, an area once dubbed "Cancer Alley"). To me, if I thought about her at all, it was in the context of "stars" who become "famous" overnight for no apparent reason and then rapidly recede from the public consciousness. I never thought she was all that cute, and I've never seen her in a movie. In fairness to her, a friend of mine did, and said she actually had some talent. Maybe. When she was in that movie a few years back with Michael Douglas (the name of it escapes me), they ran the commercial for it incessantly on TV...the one where she's squatting on the floor, drawling out like the psycho she was playing, "I'll never telllllll- elllll.....!!!!" I become so thoroughly sick of that commercial in so short a time that I was ready to throw my shoe through my ... Read more

Heh, you know how I felt about Brittany, I thought she was the hottest, sexiest thing-I don't know why but I always thought she was very attractive. So I'm almost devastated. But, she had the same self destructive tendencies that Lindsey Lohan or Tara Reid has-trying to be a sex kitten, partying, possibly drug usage, bitchiness! there seems to be plenty of young, female entertainers like that and it leads to trouble and may have led to Brittany's death (if she was using drugs.) Yet, from what I have just read-she may have had Swine Flu-TMZ reported that she had flu like symptoms and was vomiting blood. Why her family did not rush her to the hospital is baffling. Also, besides possible cocaine use, she may have abused Vicodin. Her diabetic condition, type 2, isn't to severe, she would have taken Metaformin, perhaps for that, but that can lead to hyperglycemia. The coroner said that she did not seem anorexic either, some reports stated that she looked too thin. Anyway-GOODBYE BRITTANY, I... Read more

My reaction on being told of this was "Who is Brittany Murphy?" Googling her I found that she was in some movies I didn't see, and some others I didn't like. Having seen a picture I can't remember her at all. As such, I'm not mourning her. Certainly a tragedy for those close to her, but lots of people die every single day. She clearly didn't touch my life in any way. I know its not a widely shared opinion, but I don't feel grief for every celebrity who dies.

I wasn't a fan or anything, plus I'm less than shocked when people in Hollywood die young, given the lifestyle most seem to adopt.

I'm pretty sure my "Who?" reaction is a reflection of my age, I haven't seen any of the movies that are listed as her accomplishments in the couple of obits I just read. It sounds like a story of a 32 year old actress would died from a heart attack, likely due to an addiction to painkillers, that was likely due to having undertaken extensive plastic surgery, that was likely at the direction of agents, producers and peers in the movie business. Is that shocking and sad? No, happens every day. Probably to a lot of people who never even get their name on a marquee.

When anyone young dies, whether of natural cause, homicide, desease, or their own stipidity, it's still very sad. She was my age! at times it feels like life has just begun...

I'm not all that familiar w/Brittany Murphy's work. She seemed like a nice enough person though but it also seemed like she struggled w/addiction. I just don't get why Hollywood stars just move out of Los Angeles...it seems their lives would be a bit easier. Problems are complimentary when it comes to Hollywood celebrities who live in LA...just look at Alan Thicke and Tony Danza.

I remember her from early in her career, when she in the film, Clueless, and was startled to here of Brittany's death. Perhaps the autopsy will shed more light into what happened.

I agree with Liz -- It is always sad when a talented woman passes away so young. I think anyone with a daughter can relate to that.

Men of low character view her in a special sort of way, and that will never change.

saw her in clueless when she was chubby, she then lost alot of weight,I always thought she was so pretty. when I heard of her death I was surprised like I always am when I high profile person dies. They are doing an autopsy today it will be interesting to see the cause of death. Anyway its sad when a 32 year old drops dead.

She was hot, and had a big resume under her belt. She has a lot of movies coming out next year. I think it's good we'll get to see her last movies. she will be missed.
