After all the shopping around my fiancee and I did, we went to Helzberg Diamonds and I found a few rings I absolutely loved. The price seemed to good to be true, when I started asking questions about the stone, the saleswoman became distracted and no longer answered my questions. When I asked if the price was correct, she said yes. I began to look at the stone closer and noticed it wasn't a real diamond. Come to find out, they had put cubic zirconia in all of their rings and you had to buy the stone seperate, which was an additional $3000. It was VERY misleading and the salespeople never told us until we asked tons of questions. When I discovered this, I asked to look at their rings that included the stones. She handed me a 1 carat solitare princess cut, and the stone was almost brown. The price for it was $2000, INCREDIBLY overpriced. I will NEVER do business with them. Their stones are terrible, their rings are misleading and their prices are way too high for the quality.

We purchased our wedding rings through them in 2005, and over the last couple years of having them clean and polish our rings, they managed to destroy not just my wedding band but my wife’s as well. Neither of us have the same ring we did when we were married. They offered to replace the rings, but in my wife’s case, they could not, and to get her ring to look the same, we had to pay them about $500 more dollars due to their error and shabby craftsmanship. I had reported them to the BBB and the Attorney general. I had taken off my complaint with them because they offered us to take care of the rings for the rest of our lives at no cost to us, and the store manager in Bellevue told us to always come to him, and he would make us a priority as we were a valued customer, and they wanted a chance to prove themselves to us. That was a year ago. My wife and I went in on September 4th (a couple weeks ago), and the store manager is gone, and the company refuses to do anything free for us. According to them, they have no information, and cannot help us based on a “hearsay” promise from their store manager. My wife has cried enough over this, and I really would like some justice done for a company that “claims” they care about your sentimental needs and wants you to trust them. I want them to not go back on their word, and to take care of us, as they should for what they have done. It would have been nice if they replaced the ring to look like the original for free. They need to understand that wedding rings are highly sentimental, and they should treat them as such. At least that is what their “promise to you” says on their wall. "Our Promise to You…At Helzberg Diamonds, we know our customers come to us for their most important and heartfelt purchases. That's why your personal satisfaction is, and always will be, our number one priority. We stand behind your purchase because we believe in the quality of Helzberg Diamonds jewelry, and we want to maintain a long, happy relationship with everyone who shops here. You have our word that we will provide reliable quality, trustworthy expertise and a commitment to service like no one else. There are moments in life that transcend the everyday, and Helzberg Diamonds promises to help you make those moments sparkle."Never EVER deal with HELzberg Diamonds. I am now (again) involving my attorney general, BBB, and the local TV news stations. This all happened in Bellevue, WA.

My fiance and I had the best experience at Helzberg! We had different tastes when it came to an engagement ring and we both were a little picky so I'm glad we could deal with people who were extremely friendly and patient. They let me try on just about every ring in the store, showed me the diamonds under the gemscope, and really let me take my time in choosing one. They were not at all pushy. Two days after we put my gorgeous radiant star diamond ring on layaway, I received a beautiful card in the mail thanking me for my business. Every time I've stopped by the store to look at the ring or make a payment, they have been wonderful. Taking time out of their day to stop and talk to me and were always super friendly. Customer Service= EXCELLENT. Diamond=FLAWLESS!!!

My husband and I LOVE Helzberg!!!!!!Their customer service is great,at least the ones we've been to.When my husband deploys,he's gone sometimes when its time for our 6month check up on our rings, they're so nice to extend the date of the check up until he gets back with his ring. Of course just as long as prongs aren't bent or diamonds aren't chipped,etc..and I take VERY good care of my rings considering that my husband paid a GREAT deal amount for it..I clean and polish every2wks and it still looks like it did when I walked out the store the day I bought it!Before we got married and were lookin@ rings, most of the other jewelers rudely regarded us as if we were too young (both of us early 20s) to have the money to buy anything in the store!(Kay Jewelers,Marks&Morgan,Gordon's),until we mentioned that my husband was military.....age-discrimination I'll say!which made me walk out as soon as we walked in..I dont put up with that..My husband didn't like any of their jewelry anyways..BUT we came across Helzberg,to be honest, never really heard about it before and fell in love with the store..Warmly greeted, and all associates were very sweet. No soffocating pressure to buy anything, which I deeply appreciated...We think that for the quality and beauty of the jewelry is well worth the price! We've bought jewelry there many times and will do so in the future, each time is a great experience!Keep in mind the promotional rates,so make sure you make your payments,if u didn't pay in full..lol..but anyways Helzberg will always be our favorite jewelry store!=].....

I had the most fantastic experience there! They were so nice, let me look at the diamond under the gemscope and then followed up our visit with a nice hand written card. Wonderful people, BEAUTIFUL diamond (the radiant star). Love it love it love it

I recently purchased a diamond ring from the jewler Helzberg Diamonds. The entire process was questionable from the beginning. They kept insisting that I sign up for certain promotional options and credit cards… I just wanted to buy the dang ring… But apparently the term “no strings attached” doesn’t apply to this jeweler. A few months later I had one of my friends clean the diamond, and in doing so he noticed that there were very small inclusions on the diamond, visible by the magnifying scope thing jewelers use… I immediately went to the jeweler and demanded an explanation. Conveniently for them, all of the paperwork from my transaction had been lost, as well as my records on their “online system” had been deleted. Manager say let him look into it and he never call back They then proceeded in asking me for an appraisal. I told them they never gave me one, which they responded “well you didn’t ask.”…. I don’t know about you, but that is not the most stellar “customer service.” So if you are in the market for any type of jewelry, please steer clear away from Helzberg Diamonds. You will save yourself the trouble of countless headaches.

I had been at Helzberg store in nridgewater,NJ. This was myfirst time at Helzberg went to by a ring for my wife's 7th year aniversary. One hell of a customer service and had to walk out of the store and will never step my foot into the store again. lousy people and lousy store.. Beware..

My husband got a BEAUTIFUL engagement ring from Helzburg - I LOVE it!! But, every time we have gone in for the 6 month cleaning, etc they are rude and could care less to help us since we are not making a purchase! The people who work here have no personality. If you want to buy a ring from someone you can actually talk with, I would not recommend going to Helzburg.

Lets start by saying I am a five year veteran of this company and have worked in the business for nearly 15 years... As you notice most reviews of all retail businesses are negative ones and that is simply because the angry, bitter, hateful people with nothing better to do with their time are the ones who most often write in.. The truth behind many of these reviews I am reading and this applies in the defense of all jewelers out there is that customers just like to have someone to blame for their irresponsibility and mistreatment of their jewelry...People must think we are stupid as employees... They bring us stones with huge cracks in them, busted up gold, and snaggled chains and swear they just don't know how it happened... Well unless there is a jewelry fairy who goes around breaking peoples jewelry while it is tucked away safely in its box at night as all whining customers say, I am guessing that these people know exactly how their jewelry got broken and know that it has nothing to do with poor craftsmanship or inferior stone quality... People jewelry is delicate and news flash it will break if you don't take care of it... Once in a rare while it turns out that a piece of jewelry is made poorly but usually the store will replace it or fix it and lay off the poor salespeople they didn't make it and the company didn't intentionally buy a bad piece... Trust me when we find we have bad pieces we take it up with the vendor and stop carrying those things... If you want to be treated well in a jewelry store when you have a problem here's how to get it done.... DON'T LIE... we can tell by looking at a broken piece what happened to it... BE RESPECTFUL .. we are people too just trying to do our jobs and you most def catch more flies with honey... BUY THE WARRANTY... then you wont have issues the company will take care of anything you do to your jewelry and you wont even have to make up a clever lie...As jewelers go and trust me I have worked for lots of them, Helzberg is the most ethical company you could imagine... We are trained to never say or do anything that we would not be proud for the customer to see or hear...We don't run fake sales or play the discount game..anyone with a brain knows that it is just a game some stores like to play.. And as far as merch quality goes we have it all... If you are a diamond snob and want a colorless, vvs, triple excellent GIA cert diamond we have it, but we also have very beautiful much more affordable items for the rest of the world who know all of that is not necessary to still get a beautiful diamond... Thats why we have very trained salespeople who will help you decide whats right for you ...that is if you shut up long enough to actually listen to what the professionals have to say... Believe me we are just trying to help you get the perfect gift or engagement ring...Ours is a business built on relationships and we are not looking for a one time purchase, we are looking to get all your jewelry purchases from here on out... So relax be nice and I bet you will find most of us will go out of our way to help make your experiences as pleasant as poss... This is the real world though and I have learned a valuable lesson.. YOU CANT PLEASE EVERYONE!!!!!! By the way a few of my pet peeves from these complaint sites...Stupid things I've read: 1) To those who claim the store switched their diamond... unless you were holding the Hope diamond I doubt it... jewelry stores buy diamonds cheap they dont need to steal them... besides it takes a goldsmith with a torch and plyers an hour or so to do this... it didnt happen like magic while some poor salesgirl cleaned your ring.. 2) Stores don't know where all of their diamonds come from so to claim that they are bought from Africa and conflict diamonds is stupid... what we do know is that all our diamonds have gone through the Kimberly Process (look it up if you care about this) and are all clean diamonds, and many now come from canada and austraili 3) The "mall jeweler" comments... To those of you who think that there is a difference between "mall jewelers" and the small outside jewelers you are right but not in the way you think... Diamonds are diamonds and both mall jewelers and privates carry all types..The truth is though that the "mall" jewelers offer better warranties, better prices (there is little regulation of these privates and so called wholesalers, these places are where diamond switches happen)and they will be the survivors of this hard economy... The privates are struggling to stay in business so go ahead buy your diamonds there... good luck in five years when you need help and they have closed their doors... Helzberg is owned by Berkshire Hathaway(Warren Buffet) so their future is secure... which means so are your purchases... I don't know you decide which is better I know where I stand...

I just give them one star because you dont let me give zero star. First of all over price store everything is 30% more then any other mall store. I cant belive they are sell one carat Marque ring with I color and I2 clarity for 5000. this is a very low grade diamond and I found this for 3700 at gordons and jared. Most of diamond helzberg carry is I1 to I2. I visit their store in First colony mall and I start with a bad impression both ladies working are busy one at her back office and other is browsing at a laptop in middle of store. I did't get any help until i ask for it. They dont like to if you ask then a question. They hate if you are little educated in diamond. She keep trying to PUSH an Exclusive (a lie) excellent diamond for 10,000 with 18 months no interest finance Their excellent diamond (master piece) is start from 10,000 which is Si2 and I color you can find an ideal cut diamond with better color and clarity at jared for 7200. to make long story short I dont recommond them to anybody.

I recently went to the Helzburg Diamond in Westland Shopping Center in Michigan and the manager's customer service was horrible. So horrible that when I kept thinking about how me and my husband were treated by this lady, she was not even the person who initially helped us with this ring. I returned to the store I asked to have my money refunded and she (the Manager)did not even want to sign the form that validates to refund the corporate check even her co-workers had the same look of disgust as I did. SHe would not even come speak to me or use the tactic called customer recovery. I will never shop there again because one older lady with brunette hair and a accent which appeared to have an indian skin complexion who was old enough to know who to talk to people an treat people. She knew she was so wrong, that she even tried to act like she was so busy helping customers that were just window shopping and eventually did not buy anything at that time which actually I went from upset to humorous looking at how ridiculous she looked trying to keep busy when any other time when I walked through the Mall she standing there looking like she is in LA LA Land. There was one nice lady with blonde hair that was really nice and called a another manager. I will never shop there agian or recommend anyone else to shop there.
estellasmum 05/26/2008
I will never shop there again. I was at the Clackamas, Oregon store, and when I told them my budget, they never showed me a ring that was within $2000 of it, in fact they showed me one that was 2 & 1/2 times my budget. When they told me financing terms, I said I wasn't financing I would pay cash, they said that was great, I could finance and get a much higher priced ring. They were very pushy, and I visited their Washington Square location, and they were almost as bad. Having been through 3 malls, and quite a few independent jewelers, they also had the highest prices to boot. I will never set foot in any of their locations again.

My husband and I just went to the store at North Shore Mall (MA) for the first time last night. We were looking for my first set of pearls, and actually started out looking for another chain store that is closed for renovation. We first went to another store, and then to Helzberg. We found the woman looking after us to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and non-pushy. She explained the differences between the pearls, and treated us as valued customers even when we chose a less-pricey set than the high-end pearls. We are not really big jewelery people, but both agreed that we would be back again to that store again for anything we need in the future.

I had my experience in HELzberg. I won't be buying anything from them in the future.

I walked in to a Helzberg Diamonds Store for the first time in Downingtown, PA. about a year ago, and loved everything about the store. I like how they clearly mark all prices in clear view for you to see, unlike most jewelery stores you have to get an associate to take the product out just so you can see the price, and be disappointed if its more expensive than you had hoped. I have never felt pushed or rushed. I get my jewelery inspected for free and cleaned every six months, and recently had a ring sent out and got it back 4 days before expected and it looked great! I am getting ready to purchase an engagement ring there in the next week. I would go to Helzberg before Kay Jewelers anyday, even if it is a little more pricy, at least you know you are getting quality. They even let you see your ring under a microscope to make sure there are no imperfections. They truly stand behind there products. I know you are going to read all the reviews like I did myself and feel a little weary, dont worry it really is a nice place to shop, give them a try at least, before you turn your head on them. I personaly do not have any complaints about Helzberg at this time, now for Kay Jewelers thats a completely different story (talk about Headache).

Poor customer relations. Bought $450 ring and after deciding to purchase ring for daughter with her standing there they informed sizing was $13. I can not believe a jewelry store would charge to size a ring that is $450. If daughter hadn't been there I'd have left it one the counter. Honestly felt used when I left. Last purchase I ever make at Helzburg's, our "hometown diamond store".

I recently visited a Helzberg Diamond Store In the Metro North Mall KC. They were very nice and outgoing, They sat us down, got us drinks and even let us look at the rings through the microscope to try and fine imperfections, even taught us about the 4c's and gave us a little lesson on cut angles. They were at no time pushy or rushing things to make a sale. It was actually a really fun time for me and my fiancee . I have been looking around for weeks now and think i have found the right store. A+ Customer Service

Horrible. Sales associate started calling my husband on his cell, sending him mail, and now we are separted and going through a divorce. Guess who he is dating... the person who lacks integrity from Helzberg's. Is that the kind of people you want to do business with? Not me! (sorry had to give it at least one star or else won't let me submit this.)
Ventoux1 04/16/2006
Like most chains, service quality varies across the franchise based on staff at the individual store. My experience at the Vista Ridge store in Lewisville, TX has been very good. Appriasal by an independent jeweler has validated value, and we have had no quality probelms (and my wife is rough on jewelry) so I have no complaints.
Lachatnoir 02/09/2006
VERY pooor quality jewelry. Customer service SUCKED! They treated us like idiots. Purchased pink sapphire ring for Christmas. It was perfect. Took it in to get sized and when I got it back 3 days later there was a chunk missing out of the stone and the ring was an odd oval shape insted of round. We took it back and they said they would give us a new ring and have it sized the next day. Went to pick it up and it was a dull, odd shaped crappy ring. They strongarmed us into taking it. @ weeks later we went to a Helzburg location. They replaced it with another perfect ring. Two weeks later the stone came loose. Took it in to get fixed, when It came back the stone was set crooked and it was dark purple insted of pink.

It's Helzberg Diamonds not Helzburg.

they used to be good 20 years ago now there just pushy car salesmen....quality lacks too

I wish I had accessed this site before I took a ring, that was very special to me, to be sized at the Helzburg on the east side of Indianapolis. Less than a month later one of the seven diamonds fell out and was lost. When I took it back I was treated like I was a fool to think that the sizing could have anything to do with it!Needless to say, I took it to another place to have it fixed, he also at the same time had to replace four more of the prongs. Not only has Helzburg lost my service but that of my friend that gave me the ring.We both used to shop there often but will not do so again! Carrie Harris

If I could rate this store at less than one star I would. My fiance bought my engagement ring at Helzburg Diamond. I have had it for a year and the setting broke. I took it to the store for repair, and they told me it was not on my warranty. I reluctantly agreed to pay to have it fixed. I was told I would be called when it was finished. I was never called. I went to check a week later to find that it had been done and waiting to be picked up for 5 days. I wasked why they did not contact me, and they told me that they tried to call me 4 times and my line was busy. I have call waiting so I find that very hard to believe. I looked at the ring to find a tooling mark all the way down the side of the "fixed" prong. I handed it back to the salesperson and asked what it was. She said just a tooling mark and handed it back to me. This is my engagement ring, there is no such thing as "just a tooling mark." I demanded to speak to the store manager. He finally agreeded to fix it and waive the fee. He actually had the nerve to act like he was doing me a favor. I was not able to return to get the ring, so he UPSed my ring to me. When I got it, it still was not fixed right. I have tooling marks on the band and the prong was sharp. I actually cut myself on the prong of my engagement ring. I called the store and they denied that it was their fault. I will never shop here again, and I recommend that no one else who wants quality jewelery or services shop here. Quality of jewelery and customer service are worse than terrible!
momnorman 07/01/2003
My husband bought my engagement ring in 1990 at Helzberg. Helzberg has checked and cleaned my ring twice a year for loose and damaged diamonds. Two years ago, three large chips were found and Helzberg replaced my diamond for an equal diamond (actually better). I also have the option to upgrade my diamond (trade in my diamond for amount paid).
