 | rok100 (6) 04/11/2007 | Donahue was MSNBC's highest-rated program at the time it was cancelled. The war was going to be FAR MORE PROFITABLE than the advertisers and FAR MORE VALUABLE than their credibility as a news organization. IThe Donahue program held the spot that is now held by Keith Olbermann as MSNBC's ONLY non-propaganda straight news show. History shows us that the truth ALWAYS has to be suppressed, if the far-right is going to be able to pull the wool over the sheeps eyes. Internal documents since disclosed by Amy Goodman and "DemocracyNow!" clearly show that the popular talk show was cancelled due to MSNBC's executive decision to push for the Iraq war, Tim Russert - the President of the News Division - used Chris "I was always against this war" Matthews to push Donahue out of his job, as per orders from the corporate home office donors to the Bush campaign and their military-industrial Republican corporate ties with MSNBC's parent company.
If any of the video from the Donaue show was saved, it will eventually stand in's Journalism Hall of Fame as a glowing and SINGULAR example of brave, honest and inquisitve journalism - asking the hard questions and doing it's REAL JOB in the face of a bald-faced, blatantly miltaristic, purely fascist totalitarian regime - hellbent for leather on invading Iraq to "liberate" their oil and to kill as many US troops and innocent Iraqi citizens as possible. The entire bloodbath brought down by the neocons (the arrogant little pr|cks actually CALL THEMSELVES "the Vulcans", believe it or not!) and their Straussian "war forever" philosphy could have been stopped dead in it's track - if the American public had been just 40-50 aggragate IQ points smarter*.
(*That's pronounced: "more liberal" by the way)

 | SharonParry (46) 12/12/2006 | Him and Merve started the day time talk shows. I'll give him that much. Whether it be as a young teen or an adult, I never cared much for the show. A bit on the boring side and being a people person and a people pleaser is two different things. Seemed like he felt a deep need to be liked by everyone.

 | Moosekarloff (19) 06/25/2003 | Ancient, used up Liberal fart. Why can't these outmoded old lefties take the best aspects of their message, revive them with some fresh perspectives and new ideas, discard the obsolete notions that never worked, and come up with a reasonable, workable game plan to address our nation's issues and problems that still embraces the idea of our social responsibility to each other? Why? Because these lefties aren't smart, creative or visionary enough. Just like their equally moronic rightwing counterparts whose simplistic and reductive solutions to every complex and complicated problem that comes up is: (1) cut taxes to the rich, and (2) bomb the living crap out of some third-world country that will never be any substantive threat to us. Great choices we have in this country. Both sides are totally antithetical to solving problems because they're too busy ensuring the perpetuation of their mutant ideologies. All at the expense of us Working Stiffs.

 | CastleBee (85) 05/07/2003 | What does it say for TV when the very wuss responsible for this continually disgusting television genre can’t even get back into the stinking pot of goo he started? Could it be that every possible human misery, problem, makeover, political agenda, lifestyle, mental aberration, and putrefied piece of human fecal matter has been exploited? Of course it has – thousands of times and then some. But Donahue’s problem is that the monstrosity he created has degenerated so much so that it is nearly unrecognizable. Kind of poetic when you consider this is not unlike the last scene in Frankenstein when Mary Shelley’s creature destroys his own creator.

 | CoCo Bro (0) 03/11/2003 | Did you all know that Donahue got cancelled and his last day on the air was on Feb. 28. His ratings were really low. Oh well, it's time for a lot of changes in talk shows espically when all of the focus is now on war.

 | Solenoid DH (20) 03/03/2003 | My main problem with Donahue isn't so much that he's immoral and left-wing...those kinds are a dime a dozen. What bothers me is that Donahue is the one who opened the door for so many trashy copy-cat shows, all wanting to copy his style.

 | BonnieBlue (0) 03/01/2003 | Phil is honest and intelligent, unlike the obnoxious Repulsicans who spew their venom on most talk shows. Sometimes he's a little too "in your face" but I think it's great to have a counter balance to the conservative creeps who have taken over the air waves. Yes, there is a definite bias in the media and it sure ain't liberal. Let's be honest, most media is run by huge corporations whose CEOs and shareholders lean to the dark (anti-progressive) side. Any one who thinks otherwise is either deliberately non-objective or so stupid as to have been taken in by the lies and propaganda of such slime as Flush Scumball and his ilk who run Fox News, etc.

 | anmalone (5) 02/25/2003 | This man is a towering intellect in the celebrity circles of the left and that speaks volumes about the over all quality of the left.
He is gone as of 2/25/2003. He invented a style of simpering, wimpish sensitivity and whining that won the white house for the White Trash Momma's Boy (Billy Blythe aka William Jefferson Clinton.)

 | ratemaster1984 (0) 02/10/2003 | Phil's heart is in it, but his mind isn't. I'm liberal, myself, and I agree with him in a lot areas, but he's just such a boring speaker. He stumbles over his words a bit much, too.

 | mindkind (0) 02/07/2003 | Horrible liberal b/s'ing. He gets one person from the right, and 10 people from the left to "debate" to try to validate his annoying and lame views.

 | callmetootie (5) 01/13/2003 | If you can handle his obnoxious personality and totally off-topic viewpoints, you'll be able to handle this show...and I am. It's quite interesting, despite the lame topics...and contains quite a bit of useful information from the poor guy, despite the fact that he's still obnoxious and politically incorrect.

 | Fredwah (0) 12/14/2002 | Poor Phil has tried to bring back his Jimmy Carter era, hand wringing, left wing, blame America, wimp ideas to prime time. Maybe he could get by doing shows about overweight women, cross dressers, etc. on daytime TV, but he can't do prime time and he can't tackle big issues with his antiquated ideas. His ideas were wrong 25 years ago, and they are still wrong today. I'm betting this show is cancelled soon.

 | Jason1972 (4) 11/19/2002 | His days are numbered on MSNBC, and after seeing an episode the other night, I can see why. He's about as exciting to watch as an insurance seminar. O' Reilly is too much of a jauggernaut to be toyed with in that newsshow time slot.

 | Averagejoe54 (0) 11/07/2002 | Is this coke-bottled-glasses, speech-impaired retard embarrassing to watch or what? What was MSNBC thinking other than the competition is so weak (Chung on CNN and O"Reilly on Fox). Is he still married to that goofy "That Girl," aka Marlo Thomas? Maybe that explains it. If I were married to her I’d have to down a six-pack of Heinnie every night to keep from chain-sawing her head off!
