 | DrEntropy (40) 03/02/2007 | Not terribly tragic-it installed Theodore Roosevelt, one of the greatest US presidents, in the White House. It is doubtful TR would ever have been directly elected president-despite his popularity, the plutocrats were terrified of him and would never have let him be nominated. When he was nominated VP, some were already scared: "There's only one life between that madman and the White House!"-Mark Hanna
