Although I never owned an Alfa, I have ridden in plenty of them (back in the 1970s). They were nice cars all-around, rode well, and handled well. Not sure about now, but in those days, Alfa had a reputation for quality in Italy (except for the AlfaSud, manufactured in the Pomigliano d'Arco plant outside Naples - they really were prone to problems, attributed to the relatively unskilled workforce from the Naples area). I think that the most elegant Alfa I ever saw was the Alfa Montreal, a real high-oerformance car. I was tempted to buy one until I found out that tuneups cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 (remember, this was in the 1970s), plus to get it done right you had to bring it to the Alfa plant in Milano and get yourself a hotel room overnight as well, because it took more than a day for the tuneup, or revision as the Italians called it. A beautiful car, but maybe just a little too high-strung to be fun.
