President Jefferson brought to the Presidency a philosophy which was based around a small central government. As President, Jefferson slashed the budget, thus reducing the national debt by 1/3.

Did not do much domestically. His major impact was the Louisiana Purchase which was not even his idea. He just wanted New Orleans.
