Stagflation king. It kind of helps when you're the President if you do something, anything.

He wasn't wrong for the presidency. In fact, the reason why he isn't considered great was because the country was still recovering from Vietnam. ... He did all he could on domestic issues. They were the same as Clinton's. Sure, he cut programs because of inflation. But he never cut them in a mean-spirited way that Reagan did. ... Carter, in fact, had a $50 million package plan to help revitalize the poor areas in the Bronx. Unfortunately, Reagan took that money and funneled it on his failed Star Wars project.

An incompetent man who should never have run for president. Completely overmatched by every adversary (except Ted Kennedy), he reacted wrongly to nearly every crisis which presented itself to him. He had the bad luck to be followed by a very strong President, making Carter's shortcomings and overall weakness all the more painfully apparent.
