Overall Rating:3.32 based on 28 ratings
As President, Clinton oversaw the greatest period of economic prosperity in United States history. Although his attempt to create a universal healthcare system was a failure, Clinton did help bring about the first balanced budget in decades and signed the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. (Add picture)

He brought a booming economy because he refused to follow Newt Gingrich's Contract On America crap and he raised taxes on the ones who must pay their fair share. I trust his domestic leadership more than any GOP alternative.

Great, skilled politician. People like this who are placed in positions requiring personal character, usually do more harm than good, which is the case with Clinton, in my opinion. Ah, what he could have accomplished . . .

Because I consistently write negative things about Clinton, which might lead some to think I am personally hostile toward him, I'd like to clarify a few points: first, we don't judge people, but we do judge works. God knows the heart of a person. But we can all determine whether an ACTION is right or wrong. I have no personal animosity toward Clinton. I would not do anything to harm him even if I could. While he was president, I prayed for him, and asked God to work in his life, and asked God to protect him from any physical danger. Yes, I was offended quite often by his cocky attitude and the smirk on his face as he proudly lied to us time after time. But I felt more sadness than anything else. This was a man who could have been a great moral leader. He was smart and gifted. He could have chosen to appeal to our better nature. He was given a lot. But to whom much is given, much will be required. In my heart, I would love to be able to brag on a fellow southerner. Instead, I feel embarassed at this disturbingly proud law-breaker. I sincerely hope that one day he will turn his life over to the Lord, and that he and I will both be able to greet each other in heaven.

Did a good job of working with the Republican congress to keep an upward economy he inherited in '92 flourishing.

Clinton was perhaps more inconsequential than truly terrible, from a policy angle. And I'll hand it too him on passing NAFTA and welfare reform. But his cynicism, disregard for the rule of law, and overall horrible character was so breathtaking that I can't avoid rating him a 1-star president. As George Will has written, he may not have been the worst President, but he was certainly the worst man to be President.
