Sure, if seen from the air, it has that interesting geometric shape. From the ground, however, its just a big ugly office building.

Won't win any prizes for aesthetics, but it sure is functional. I worked there for about eleven years, at various times, and it has almost everything the Defense Department needs (administratively) under one roof.

The Pentagon is not a building that is aesthetically pleasing; it's a standard government building. But then again what do you expect from a building that houses the defense department? It is quite a sight to see from the air though. On the ground, you can't tell this building apart from any other government building in the area. The Pentagon is a practical building that is extremely sturdy; it can withstand a nuclear attack. The walls are made of solid American granite, nothing pretty, but tough; which in my view is the right image that our military needs to display to the world.
