While X-D makes a vivid point, buckets are usually more supportive and comfortable. They can also allow a console to be put in between them. These are always in every sports car. (Add picture)

For a relatively low cost, you can have a front bench seat replaced by two buckets in a few vehicles. Most cars already come with buckets now. This allows for a console in the middle instead of a useless, uncomfortable sixth seat.
