 | CanadaSucks (45) 08/12/2004 | Duh. All I hear from this administration is how great things are. All I see in my investment portfolios are diving numbers. The federal Tax cuts that I have heard about are simply a smokescreen that add to additional local and state taxes. It's about numbers and they simply don't add up. I'd rather vote for the liberal pansy and have food on my table.

 | BIGBABY (10) 06/22/2004 | Over a million jobs have been created in the last 4 months alone. The economy is recovering quickly, and its all thanks to the tax cuts. The economy will continue to get better as time goes on. The poverty rating is lower in Bush's third year than in Clinton's third year.

 | Anonymous (1) 01/11/2004 | While the stock market may be booming now, that is not the most important thing in America for many people. Unemployment continues to rise, as millions more lose their jobs. Bush's tax cuts have just made the rich richer, and have not helped the people living in poverty a bit. Someone else needs to step in and restore the economy to health.

 | jamestkirk (22) 12/31/2003 | You couldn't be more off-base with your opinionated statement. First, Pres. Bush inherited a spiraling downward economy from Pres. Clinton. The economy was in a downward pattern in late '99 into 2000. Kind of like the economy was in an upswing in the summer of '92 heading into '93 when Pres. Clinton entered office. Second a continuing downward economy would have been natural for any country or president to endure after a tragedy like 9/11. The fallout from the poor economy naturally is high unemployment. The encouraging news is that our country and Pres. Bush have survived this with an improvong economy since August '03 thanks to tax cuts and rebates courtesy of Bush and those who passed it in Congress. '04 is predicted to be the best economy this country has seen in twenty years! Unemployment was reported today at its lowest rate in three years! Yes, all this has happened under Pres. Bush.

 | JonTheMan (27) 12/30/2003 | Actually the economy might have been effected by investors scared off by the global situation (though Bush's foreign policy has hardly eased international tensions so he may be somewhat to blame there). As far as unemployment goes, this is always a consequence of leaders allowing greater globalization. Let corporations export jobs to Mexico under the guise of NAFTA and you can bet they'll do it.

 | mikeholly93 (8) 12/09/2003 | Bush should prioritize our economy. he is to blame for our high unemployment, layoffs, and business failures in this country. Bush needs to stop being obsessed with Iraq and start helping our country. That is one reason why I hate Bush and why I am voting for Howard Dean next year for President.

 | hendo (0) 08/21/2003 | If Bush doesn't get re-elected, this will probably be the reason. No matter whose fault it is, people are worried about their financial well-being, and then we hear about tax cuts during a time of record deficits, over $4 billion per month spent in Iraq, and a slap on the wrist to fraudulent corporations and executives. It certainly doesn't help.

 | President -X-D (6) 08/08/2003 | I'd vote for the first candidate with a hands-off policy when it comes to the economy.

 | magellan (151) 07/31/2003 | I disagree with everyone on this board on this particular subject. I believe that Bush has actively slowed the recovery of our economy by 1) ballooning the size of our federal government; 2) turning a record setting surplus into a formidable deficit; 3) casting the uncertainty of preemptive war (with or without provocation) over the extended future; 4) creating the perception that he is cozying up to executives at a time when investors are getting repeatedly robbed by those same executives; 5) handing out outrageous federal farm and steel subsidies (aren't we supposed to be a capitalistic society?); and 6) targeting his tax cuts towards the rich, who are less likely to pump those dollars back into the economy with the current low rates of returns. Yes, one man can influence our economy - especially if that man is President with expanded war-time powers. I believe strongly in the are you better off when you were 4 years ago philosophy for grading a president. Isn't how everybody else is evaluated in their job?

 | twinmom101 (31) 07/20/2003 | This has nothing to do with the president, really. Carter got a bum deal while Clinton hit the jackpot. Still, if people are inclined to vote for someone other than Bush because of the economy, more power to them, hehe.
