My favourite scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail is when Eric the Federalist gets to the foot of the bridge and the old man asks him what is his name, what is his quest and what is his favourite colour.

A nice guy, but his relentless use of emoticons }:-]! gets on my nerves. Also, he was a tedious johnny-one-note (EUEUEUEUEUEU) on political subjects. Still, it would be nice to have more RIA reviewers from outside North America, and for a non-native English speaker Eric's writing was OK.

I always try to find the good in people, regardless of how hard it is too find. You can really tell Eric truly believes in his opinions, and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but most of his reviews and comments just don't make much sense to me. Maybe it is just internet miscommunication, which is the case alot of times. But no thanks...

When first coming to this sight I saw a lot of parralels between Erics political views and mine. I began to see he had VERY internationalist ideals, wanting the world to gain a greater degree of unity and equality on a global level which I certainly can respect. However as I went on, I noticed a worrying trend, he tends to slag off the USA quite a bit which is ironic. Given his very internationalist principles, I would think he would judge individuals rather then nations which he seems to have an annoying propensity to do. With that said I find his reviews very well written considering his youth and the fact English is not his mother tongue. His broken English and a tendency to use smilies gives his reviews a cute feel to them, quite distinctive.

This goof has no sense of reality. He wants the Israeli's to help thier poor neighbors. He wants them to help thier enemy- Palestinian terrorists who blow up Jewish churches. Some of the other hilarious crap he says (when rating The Real Truth) His comments are always very critical on the average US citizen's political views. The Real Truth was opposed to war, the majority of America was for it. The words ethics, moral and humanism only exists to Americans through the dictionary of foreign words, and thus the average American does not feel responsible for keeping the tradition of solidarity alive. He judges the whole population of a country just by what country it is. Rebelyell1861 had the best name for him yet. Anti-American Jackass. Finally, he believes that Christianism is the most brutal of all religions. Disgusting.
The Real Truth 11/20/2003
Doesn't mind telling the TRUTH even if it means that he will be viewed as less than patriotic. In some ways he reminds me of THE REAL TRUTH (progression toward excellence) and in other ways he doesn't (it would just be asking too much of a mere mortal). Eric can have 5 stars 'cause he earned them and, they go bad if you don't use them by the date on the box.

We tend to think differently on nearly all of the issues that are facing our world today, but I can see that he is genuine and sincere in his views. He strongly believes in the things that he writes, and to hold fast to your beliefs is indeed an admirable trait. He seems to care so much for other people, and wants to make the world a better place.

Eric and I tend to be looking toward opposite ends of the spectrum most or the time. But, I think he's very sincere in his beliefs and I respect that. I also enjoy reading his take on things and his sometimes very unique way of writing about them.

I disagree with Eric the Federalist about just about everything, but I do like his name, hence the 2 and not 1. I think he would change his name if he knew that the Federalist Society is considered the great bastion of evil by the left in the U.S.
twinmom101 09/10/2003
He may not always be realistic, but I have utmost respect for anyone who champions human rights so strongly. The world would be a lot more of a peaceful, loving place if we all thought like Eric.

I've never had any problemns with him or most of his views. He seems very friendly.

Eric the Federalist. Here's a name that I've seen near the top of the helpful list since I started coming to this site. I think the reason Eric is sucessful HAS to be due to the well-written opinions, and certainly NOT his dispairing attitude towards the USA and his propensity to promote big government solutions to everything. Still, he is an intelligent Socialist, or, since that phrase is a contradiction in terms, at least he's well-spoken. It is nice to read leftist opinions from someone with his feet planted firmly on the ground, though. Eric does not stoop to alot of senseless name-calling, which is a plus.

Intelligence + fresh Norwegian perspective = enlightening reviewer. Eric doesn't mind going against the grain, yet somehow appears friendly while doing so.

What can you say about ETF? He wears his emotions on is sleeve, he is an untiring defender of the downtrodden, and is perhaps the biggest Forest Gump fan in Scandinavia. ETF represents a powerful independent voice on this board - his presence is critical piece of the RIA community.
Tinasan 08/01/2003
He is very opinionated and has a multitude of opinions which is good. However, He is too biased against other countries especially America. He tends to make blanket statements about Americans. I am an American and I'm not anti-gay or racist against anyone!
