A well done tribute to 9/11. I saw him perform this live in Atlanta.

 | cromulance (1) 08/12/2003 | This album isn't bad, but it's not the masterpiece that most people say it is. Bruce doesn't really break any new ground or come up with anything that inspired musically or lyrically. If this had been Bruce's debut album, and it was released before 9/11, then it wouldn't have gotten nearly as much acclaim. Face it guys, Bruce is a shadow of what he once was.

 | Aurielle (18) 03/07/2003 | I love this CD! It is in constant rotation in my car (even though I had to record it on a tape to listen to it) and each of the songs are powerful and moving. "Into The Fire" tells the story of what it must have been like for firefighters on 9/11. "You're Missing" is a haunting song about a missing loved one. "The Rising" is a very spiritual song and "Lonesome Day" is phenomenal. Bruce has really outdone himself this time.

 | Jason1972 (3) 01/15/2003 | This album is his most definitive, hands down. He sees his eyes through a loved one of a victim who lost a loved during 9-11 (You're Missing). At the same time, he tells us to hold our heads up high (Into The Fire).

 | ClassicMusicLover (0) 08/28/2002 | My City Of Ruins is one of his most powerful songs. His songs of the terrorist attacks paint the perfect picture of all the mixed emotions we had to be feeling on that day. Recomend to everyone.

 | magellan (153) 08/20/2002 | A phenomenal, poignant, throwback record by one of the great storytellers of our time. In my opinion, no other musician could have pulled off a 9/11 tribute album without coming off as opportunistic or contrived. Bruce does it with no apologies, no fanfare, and no held punches. When he belts out "I want a kiss from your lips, I want an eye for an eye..." in "Empty Sky," it packs a wallop. Anyone who is from the Northeast knows that Bruce is the folk storyteller of Jersey, Philly, and New York. He is made more credible by the fact that 150 residents of his town, Monmouth, perished on 9/11. A great record, and a powerful one. His best stuff since Born to Run.

 | LoneUSFullHouseFan (3) 08/02/2002 | I don't think it tops Nebraska, but 'Into the Fire', 'Empty Sky', 'Worlds Apart', and 'You're Missing' are some of the most powerful songs that he has ever done since Nebraska was written. 'The Rising' and 'Paradise' boarder on the edge of a true religious experience. Plus it has 'My City Of Ruins' on it, which I have been looking for since he first sang it.

 | heaven_sent (0) 07/30/2002 | I wish I could give it 10 stars! It has songs that will break your heart in memory of those who died on 9/11 and it will also melt through the clouds to make you the happiest and content you've felt after hearing a new rock release in a very long time! The songs are fresh and new yet at times recall both the starkness of "Nebraska" and the upbeat rock n roll sound of "The River". Very very highly recommended!
