How can anyone not give this a 5????? An all-time American original classic. Makes you appreciate things more. What can ya say bad about Jimmy Stewart?

Ok, I know I'll get blasted for it, but I can't stand this movie. It is far from Capra's best effort as a director, and the acting and script is nothing special. I will say that it is competently made, but it is so trivial and so obvious, that it just leaves me cold.

While I can't possibly watch something this sentimental all the time, there's simply nothing else like it for over-the-top maudlinity. Just the thought of putting my whole family together in the living room to watch this sappy thing again makes my eyes moist. Yeah, it's a great film.

Good movie, but extremely overrated.

one of my all time favorite movies. james Stewart was perfect as George Bailey the man who gave up his dreams to be there for others. in his mid thirties feeling like his life is nothing and he would better off dead considers suicide. Down comes Clarence the angel to show him different. He gives George the chance to see what other peoples lives would have been like if he had never been born. I especially love the very end when the town comes together to show how much George means to them. Great movie.I watch every year at Christmas.
