A great film. . .wonderful. . .but on this particular list I have to rank it low. . .do not (I repeat) do not e-mail me and claim that I am trashing the movie- it's just that on an all-time list I have to put it lower. . .

I know you risk a flaming death on the RIA if you disparage To Kill a Mockingbird, but here goes. I think that Gregory Peck did a very good job but the film was mediocre as was the book. The reason that so many got the vapors over the book is the Scottsboro Boys hangover, and the growing Civil Rights Revolution in the South. Lots of PC goes into the adulation for book and movie.

I understand that this is supposed to be a classic, but I just don't understand the mystique that surrounds this movie (and the book for that matter). Gregory Peck does give an outstanding performance as Atticus Finch, but does one performance truly make a film great? If so, Sophie's Choice, Erin Brockovich, Places in the Heart, and countless others should be on here.

Just do not make movies like this one! Gregory Peck was great.

Good movie with some powerful moments, as well as one of the finest film scores ever composed. Some of the symbolism is a little heavy and obvious (the mad dog, the spectacles) but most of the acting is superb.

A slightly above average movie from a slightly above average book. Sometimes I think RateItAll should change the site name to ToKillaMockingbirdLovers.com the way so many people on her go on about this book and movie. Please read and something a little bit deeper than this before talking about how this is a work of genius.

One of the best novels I have evr read and depicted so beautifully on screen. Ahead of its time in so may ways. A difficult story to tell in 1962, but so enjoyable to watch. I don't know if thgere ever has been a movie where kids acted so well and told nearly the entire story. Gregory Peck in his best role of the so many good roles he played during his career. It's impossible to rate the best movie of all-time, but this is a real story for its time and since we all were kids once, it is something we can relate to in a sense. This movie came out before I was born, but it is certainly one of the very best I have ever seen.

excellent movie all the way around. Good version of the book.{there are little differences} Gregory peck is wonderful as Atticus Finch the decent fair minded lawyer who defends an innocent black man accused of rape. I loved how they wisely cast children from the south who had little or no acting experience all the kids did a great job in their roles. It is seen through the eyes of the children especially SCout. and took place during the depression. Just a very well done movie.
