It's one of those songs you sing and rock out to in the car, but you don't want anyone to see you. It was upbeat and really fit the times when it became the biggest selling British single of 1982.

Not too many songs can make it as Celtic country soul complete with a fiddle, mandolin sounding twang, and Van Morrisonesqe vocal stylings, but at least one did, namely "Come On Eileen." A superb song. Very happy go lucky. It definitely had a 60's doo wop feel to it.

I really wish I could rate this as less than one, as it has caused me so much misery and so many ruined nights out. Awful. Annoying. Rubbish. Satan himself would tear his ears off and burn them rather than suffer this annoying dungeree wearing corporate godawful mindless anal drivel. Really mere words cannot convey how much I loathe this song. I hated it utterly when I was a child and it's continued existence leaves me lying awake at night pondering WHY? I hate this more than even Boyzone. If there is such a thing as karma they will all be reborn as dung beetles in the stalls at Glastonbury when an arsonist strikes and incinerates the whole lot in hideous agony. Then a new level of Hell will be created for them created from the tortured minds of those who had to suffer this soul destroying hellfire at junior school discos. BURN! BURN! DROWN! BURN AND DROWN! SIMULTAINIOUSLY!

I do enjoy this song. It has a good beat to it. I like it when it starts slow in one part of the song and builds up faster.
