There are songs that stimulate pleasure centers, bringing back memories of wonder and joy. For me, one such is "White Rabbit" with Grace Slick's incredible vocals.
Then there are songs that stimulate gag-reflexes bringing back this morning's breakfast. For me, one such is this curdled monstrosity of a song, with Grace Slick's revolting vocals.

Great song. You know a good song by the longevity of its relative popularity and this song still gets played regularly on the radio.Four stars.W
happycan 07/26/2009
That's a song?? I thought it was a TV commercial.
fitman 07/26/2009
Pop trash for the undiscerning consumer of corporate rock.
Wiseguy 07/26/2009
To the diehard Jefferson Airplane/Starship fan…I agree, it was a monumental let down. To a passerby who likes pop music… It’s a catchy tune that would garner a decent rating.I don’t hate it…2.5 stars.
GoinDownSlow 07/25/2009
It's DA SHYT alright. Rock bottom. From Airplane to this?! Dam, I feel bad for Slick.
P.A.C. 03/16/2009
This song is DA SHYT! Problem is, is that the lyrics are pretty confusing at times. I think I got part of what the song is saying, not the whole thing.

In college, I took a great class from the City and Regional Planning Dept. I always thought this song would be a good intro for the planning professors....running down the halls---giving the students high fives ('we built this city, we built this city'). But the song sucks

Weak, apparantly all the Jefferson ran out of the Starship
ms-393355907 07/13/2008
This was their proverbial leap into the pop scene. But, it had a catchy beat and Grace looked happy for once in a video. Unfortunatly, this song probably lost them the fanbase they had built with Airplane and old Starship.

This song always reminds me of the awful (in retrospect) movie that went with it...."Mannequin". Good song....video? not so good.

I can't disguise the fact that in a STRICTLY rock music sense( and relatively little else) I'm something of a conservative. Don't get me wrong, I really like some 90's stuff like The Afghan Whigs or Radiohead for example, but my primary love is for the 1965-1971 period. Jefferson Airplane was a good, even often very good band, but with very few exceptions, their music after c. 1970 was awful, and their Starship incarnation was, with the exception of the decent ballad "Miracles" an absolute abomination. Jefferson Airplane was one of those bands that, love them or hate them, had SOMETHING TO SAY, and the hippie era bands pretty much pioneered the whole idea of alternative rock- and were really the first rock bands to discuss political and social issues, though the folk acts had indeed done that earlier. This insipid, intelligence -insulting garbage, which would place very, very high on a list of horrible songs by formerly great bands, and an absolutely cynical, commercial sell-out, is an insult to their legacy. To his credit, Paul Kantner realized this and quit the band out of shame. It's sad that this and the just as equally putrid "Sara" were the biggest hits they ever had.

This a really bad song, I wish I had something witty to say about it, but just plainly, I switch the channel so fast all I hear is " We built this...."
edt4 11/11/2005
This from the same woman who once sang "White Rabbit?" There's no clearer, more painful demonstration of the deleterious effects of excessive, long-term alcohol consumption than this. The nadir of a once-great band. Hopefully, Grace has dried-out since producing this embarrassment...
PlanetaryGear 11/11/2005
Chalk this one up to "Too many drugs". . . Horrible 'song'.
LoneUSFullHous eFan 12/07/2004
OK song, but the traffic report killed it.
ClassicTVFan47 07/15/2004
Great upbeat song with top-notch vocals and a great, fast beat. I also love the longer-than-average length.
Denni 07/14/2004
Nice song, like Grace Slick's vocals.
alpepper 06/04/2004
Jefferson Sellout. Awful song; even worse video. Voted worst Rock song ever by Blender Magazine. Hard to argue against that.
Wrecked-Gar 10/15/2003
Funny. To listen to once. It will remind you why you like the bands you like and not Starship.
President -X-D 09/24/2003
I added a star only because of the Homer Simpson version.
