Bob Kane orginally designed Batman as a vengeful, dark hero in Detective Comics #27, in 1939. The cheesy Adam West 60's version is a sorry excuse for the real Batman.

But, the modern, dark Batman, I cannot stand. As I stated in my rating of The Hulk, heroes shouldn't be angst-ridden, but witty and upbeat in the fight against evil.
