The Lion in Winter is an example of perfect casting. No one else, including his British contemporaries could have pulled a better performance.

I like this guy quite a bit, but I don't think he came anywhere close to living up to his potential.

There are several times that he shows flashes of the brilliance inside him, but he seldom sustains it.

Why this man never won an Academy Award is beyond me. To have your film debut be the magnificent and beautifully crafted Lawrence of Arabia is impressive enough.
