"Chiquitita" is a throwback to Benny and Björn's roots in folk music. Looking back, the listener often wonders how two snow white boys could compose such an effective Latin sounding song, yet they do, and ABBA pulls off the performance in spades (as they did earlier with "Fernando.") Released on the full-length "Voulez Vous" (1979), "Chiquitita" features a theme of a troubled friend contrasted by a bouncy chorus and faux ending that blends into a somewhat jubilant final dancehall piano instrumental. Due to its Latin undertones, the song has been a favorite cover of Hispanic artists (e.g. Menudo, Nacho Santy, Guardianes Del Amor, and Leonardo Paniagua) but also others such as Sinéad O'Connor, Electric, and Stephen Gately. "Chiquitita" charted in the U.S. for 6 weeks in 1979-80, peaking at #29.

Without doubts, the best ABBA song, either the english or the spanish version. Beautiful, romantic, sensitive, one of the best songs ever composed!!!!!
