Released on the full-length effort Voulez-Vous in 1979, Does Your Mother Know is Benny and Björn's attempt to merge rockabilly and disco. While the single is benign and fun, the final result is a bit jotty and overly ambitious as they songwriters relay the story of a young woman who wants to grow up faster than she probably should. Stripping the disco veneer and interpreting the song with a harder edge reveals the sometimes hidden gem, as done by the likes of Prime and Ash, though of course the song has also been covered in a more ABBAish fashion (eg Abacus and B*Witched). Does Your Mother Know charted in the U.S. for 10 weeks in 1979, peaking at #19.
