This is really a great song and makes listening to ABBA worth a return trip.

Originally appearing on a Frida Lyngstad solo album, Fernando was released as a single by ABBA in 1976. The single is a lush, Latin influenced song which features woodwinds that give the tune a very un-ABBAish sound. The group would later return to this Latin sound with Chiquitita. Not surprisingly, the song has been a favorite cover for Hispanic artists such as Alain Morisod, Lena Teigen, and Johnny Ventura, but also artists such as Sex Mob, Ray Conniff, Late Edition, as well as the plethora of ABBA tribute groups (eg Björn Again). Fernando charted in the U.S. for 11 weeks in 1976, peaking at #13.
