Revered by all Tiger baseball fans for decades, Greenberg was a class act. He was a strong, proud man who carried a lot on his shoulders. Helluva ballplayer too. My Dad loved him.

He is still talked about as if he founded a religion in Detroit.

Led Detroit to the world series. Although not the first jewish player, he was the first great one, and accomplished great things in a time when anti-semitism was at a high. Though he's no jackie robinson, he must be considered a trailblazer nonetheless.

Had some monster seasons including a 59 home run year. Was more than adequate at first base. Hit consistently for good average, including a lot of extra base hits. Also lost career time to WWII
