The extremely Large Anchor of that Defensive line for 70's Pittsburgh Steelers. The Team in general caused Rule Changes in 1978 during their dominating Dynasty winning 4 Superbowls. Joe Greene was the Star of the Defensive Line, and one of the Best Steelers to play the Game.

Nickname was appropriate for being on the Steel Curtain Defense.

The greatest player on the greatest team of all time, I am stunned that he is ranked this low.

A late round draft pick that inspired the comment " Joe Who?" Greene was a menacing force in the famous "Steel Curtain" defense of the Steeler Super Bowl years. From his defensive tackle spot, Greene intimidated offensive lineman for his 10+ years in the NFL. Almost always doubleteamed, Greene allowed linebackers Ham, and Lambert to enhance their reputations. Quite arguably one of the best three or four defensive lineman to ever play the game.
