Despite the show's beginning sequence which would end with the sub-human cackle of its fat-ass, trashy namesake, Roseanne wasn't the worst show (granted, it was far from ever being the best). It did its best to portray working class families and the everyday problems they faced- and for that, it deserves some merit. And the show had its wonderful moments- especially with the very funny John Goodman. But at the end, it was just average.

I love this show. It was trashy...that was the point! I still catch reruns on cable when I can. BTW, you don't get 9 seasons from the worst shows! Granted the last season did suck...

Roseanne was good the first few seasons. Liked that it was about working class family. the parents were not model gorgeous. the kids acted like kids. the struggled to make ends meet. more like a lot of families. too bad the last two seasons went downhill. would not call it worst show ever.

One of the last sitcoms about working class people.

Trash! Stupid! Annoying! Awful!

It took one or two seasons for the humor to reach a good point and that's when I liked the show. When they won the lottery, the humor vanished quicker than the entire XFL.

This is one of those shows that I really have mixed feelings about. If you look at the earlier episodes (Season 1 through about Season 3), you'll find that Roseanne was a pretty funny, if not always well-acted, show. Then, the real-life Roseanne decided to start making a statement with every show, and the quality went downhill. I can recall entire episodes, especially in the last couple of seasons, where there was not one single funny line or situation happening. Everything was deadly serious. Then, next episode, you'd see the too-numerous-to-mention homosexual characters flitting around and saying things that were funny to them and maybe 10 other people on the face of the earth. What a downer this show became in the last few seasons. And, yeah, Roseanne's obnoxious attitute on and off the show had a lot to do with that.

This was a good show and the best one that depicts real life.

Tthe fact that they got a new becky and then went back to the old becky again... and in the begining as they are all aging, becky turns into a different girl and back again is the funniest thing. and i love that if you pay attention they wear the same clothes over again, most shows don't. but i have a question... is giving this show a 5 saying that it is the absolute worst and a 1 saying it's great?? lol... i don't know how to answer. so my 4 says that i like the show!

Roseanne herself is really obnoxious but the show did have its funny moments.

How can anyone enjoy watching some trashy, morbidly obese woman bitch and moan at her family all day?
Redoedo 08/08/2003
Say what you want about the woman herself, but the show all in all was pretty good. Unlike Full House, it was a much more realistic view of a family struggling to make ends meet both financially and emotionally.

I actually probably would have liked this show if it wasn't for Roseanne. I find her totally obnoxious and not funny.
