No way was 'Family Matters' bad. Sure, it probably went on too long. But Urkel was a classic.

I'll admit the last two or three seasons were pretty bad, but the first few seasons were funny. I think it made for some pretty good family friendly TV.

urkel probably made it bad, but without Urkel this would have been the most boring show ever.

It was a cute show. It wasn't the most interesting, and got a bit boring after it ran a long time, but Steve Urkle will always live on.

A pretty weird show. I've seen worse.

Okay, so it's one of the sappy ones! But, through all the silliness, one could almost always count on excellent morals. Loyalty, for one. Of course, Steve Urkel was a typical nerd, but inside was a really nice person who would do his best to defend the people he cared about when they were in trouble. Laura, in particular. Poor Steve spent the whole show longing to be loved by Laura (which seemed for nine seasons to be a fruitless endeavor) when it was clear that she had other interests. NOTE: If you don't like spoilers and haven't yet seen this series, do NOT read any further! Toward the end of the series, Laura began to have feelings for him (and NOT his Stefan alter-ego), and the two were engaged. That was their series finale, but it wasn't meant to be that way. I heard the networks wanted to do another season which would show a wedding for Steve and Laura. That never came about, but that was fine with me. The show ended on a satisfying note, with Steve Urkel getting his due reward for his constant loyalty to the woman he always loved with true passion. [Oh, so I've spoiled the surprise! Well, don't say you weren't warned!!]

Terrible and super gay.

I liked it when Urkel was not on the show. When they put him on the show it became Urkel Matters and when Urkel got older the show got stupider.

A VERY GOOD SHOW

I still haven't decided yet if this was the worst sitcom ever or an elaborate prank meant to satirize bad television. It was just SO over-the-top terrible. Every character was cliched, but they mostly served as backdrop after Urkel became the show's focus. And every single show, every single episode, at about the 22-minute mark the sappy music would start up, and we'd all learn a valuable lesson about life, usually involving Carl apologizing to Steve for yelling at him or something. The last few minutes were more stupid jokes. Really bad, but I still think it's possible that the producers were making fun of us.

Urkel was pretty funny, and I still occassionally watch this show and laugh, but like Full House, it was just too sappy (although to a lesser extent).

I must admit, I still enjoy some of the earlier episodes. It's not so bad as some shows out there, like Friends, Roseanne, and Full House. It lasted several years too long though. Once Urkel hit puberty, he just became pathetic.
