i watched this because i was the same age as the girls so i could realte somewhat to them. i liked nancy mckeons character she was the most like me

Originally cheered for this show in its first season, as it had both the bubbly Julie Piekarski and the tasty Felicity Schacter (the remainder, even Molly Ringwald, blew). Then the suits ripped it apart and it devolved into issue-of-the-week pap and squalor. Crappy on all accounts, as it lasted FAR too long (just goes to show how much influence prison write-in campaigns actually have).

Facts of Life is a personal favorite of mine -- a wonderful program about the trials and tribulations of growing up. With the exceptions of one bad episode in the final season, FOL is a great show for young people to learn from, even today in 2005... how four young ladies can still be friends and stick up for one another despite their differences.
