A significant contributor to changing the face of modern football. Hayes was so fast and effective, he altered defensive philosophy, and teams began playing zone defenses to contain him. Man to man and double teams simply werent sufficient, he ran right by them. He is also unique, as he was timed as the fastest man in the world when the Cowboys drafted him, but he had athletic skill. He could catch the ball, and was an outstanding blocker.
