Tasty seeds. I have only tried the Dill Pickle so far. Has a good mild dill flavor. Out of two 6oz bags I have not found a bad tasting one yet. I will have to order online to try other flavors.I just ordered some Giant seeds and will be rating them as well. My friend tells me there dill is better. We shall see. (Edit. The Giants are very good. A tad better than Spitz. But Spitz is still a favorite and with Giants will be the only two brands I buy.)

I AGREE THAT SPITZ IS THE BEST SUNFLOWER SEEDS AROUND. MY MOTHER AND SISTER MAKE ME BRING THEM FROM VA TO NC EVERY TWO WEEKS. I WANTED THEM TO TASTE THEM AND I GOT THEM HOOKED ON THE SEEDS. DAVIDS' HAS TO STEP THEIR FLAVOR UP

MOLD MOLD MOLD I have enjoyed spitz for many years, but recently I have noticed the quality going down hill. I have not had a bag without eating at least one seed per handful that was bitter tasteing. I could live with that though. I just figured they were burnt. Tonight though I opened up a seed and for some reason I looked at the seed and there was MOLD on it. Grey hair MOLD. I looked at it under a magnifying device and it definately is MOLD. I found this information about what this MOLD could be. The one fungal type that has caused the most commotion in recent history are the various Aspergillus species of molds. Under certain conditions with certain grains, legumes and to a lesser extent, nuts, they can produce a mycotoxin called "aflatoxin". This is a serious problem in some parts of the world, most especially in peanuts, occasionally in corn. There have been no deaths I am aware of in the United States from aflatoxicity, though other countries have not been so fortunate. What makes aflatoxin so worrisome in this country is that it is also a very potent carcinogen (cancer causing agent). In addition to the Aspergillus molds, there is also a very large family of molds called Fusarium and these can produce a wide variety of mycotoxins, all of which you do not want to be eating directly or feeding to your animals where you will get it indirectly when you eat them. I will not ever be eating spitz again.

Was on a recent road trip and stumbled on Spitz at a truck stop and decided to give them a try over Davids. I was not at all impressed with the seeds, the only advantage over Davids is less salt.

Spitz seeds are good. Not great, not perfect, but they are good! David's seeds are ok, but not as good as Spitz, but David's has more popular flavors. Spitz dill pickle is a unique flavor that my tastebuds seem to take a liking to. Several reviewer mentioned that Spitz uses little salt. Good point because you don't always need salt for flavor. Hear that other seed makers? There are some really nasty 'bad' Spitz seeds. Perhaps this explains the 'organic' taste that some reviewers noticed. David's is better in that regard. Less nasty seeds. Spitz can be purchased at Shell gas stations in Western states.

DILL PICKLE? The best tasting Dill Pickle is done by GIANTS Sunflower Seeds. They blow spitzs out of the water.

Really enjoy the Dill ones as well and have to order them from drsoda.com...Beat thu heck out of David's by far...Not as salty and much better flavor. Also like the Jumbo (Klein brand)BBQ ones but this flavor AND the resealable package just can't be beat....Hopefully will see a Honey Roasted or sweet type flavor sometime soon.

I love the dill flavored. Cannot find them in Texas and everyone keeps trying to take mine away at the ball games. So much better than David's and I don't get a raw mouth by the end of the game!

I love that you can tackle an entire bag and not come away with a raw mouth. NOT some thing that can be said about any other seed I've tried. To top it off, their flavors are great! I've yet to sample the Dill Pickle, though.

Spitz are the best sunflower seeds around. I had to give up roasted salted seeds a long time ago. Before Spitz I could never eat more than two or three without having a reaction to the salt. Spitz have very little salt and the best flavors out there. I am a life long convert. Thanks Spitz for allowing me to enjoy sunflower seeds...you can't eat just two or three. Sorry Lays :(

I got hooked on Spitz Dill Pickle when visiting my in-laws in Saskatchewan. Cannot find them in GA, but can order from Burkes Distributing in WA. These are much better than Frito Lay and way better than David. Another excellent seed is Lance.

I have NEVER been a sunflower seed lover until my brother in law told me to try Spitz DILL PICKLE flavored sunflower seeds! I bought four bags before leaving Wyoming, and am completely addicted! I can't find them in Georgia!

Cdeeznuts has likely never tasted a good hearty Canadian seed like Spitz. Full roasted, salted just right. These seeds are excellent with a hearty rich tasting Canadian beer. The wimpy seeds Cdeeznuts is sucking on probably go well with his watered down beer.

In my opinion Spitz seeds are the only seed out there. They are plump, fresh, not too salty & very tasty. My favorite flavor is the seasoned which is a sort of ranch type flavor but the salted & dill pickle flavor are excellant as well. They also come in a spicy & jalapeno flavor but I haven't had those because my tongue can't take hot things. The really big advantage to eating lots of sunflower seeds is that they are legumes which are very good for you & provide vitamin E which is hard to get in food. The disadvantage is that they are addictive & if you find that you can't stop eating them (like me!) then you will probably end up with a tummy ache because they make you gassy!! But then as they say... anything that is good for you either comes from the sea, the ground or gives you gas. The only complaint that I have about Spitz is that they are hard to find. They are manufactured in Canada & as far as I have seen the only states you can find them in are the far northern ones. They are supplied through distributers of which there are not nearly enough. You can buy them online on the Spitz web site but the last I checked the shipping was fairly high. To sum up...David, Lays, Fisher, Tom's or ANY of the others (except maybe Dakota Style) don't hold a candle to Spitz. YOU MUST TRY THEM!!!!!!!
