Kind of liked it, although I'm damned if I remember why after all these years.

Ok, my teacher was ok. I had some freinds and i some new kids came which I am friends with today.

First grade was a mixed bag for me. I already knew how to read and I was somewhat ahead of the game in many respects. This gave me plenty of free time to pick out boys I intended to hold down and kiss on the playground. If I liked a boy, he was mine whether he liked it or not. I didn't understand the predatory nature of what I was doing. Consent meant nothing. The downside of first grade was, like many others posting here, my teacher was an old biddy who LIVED to beat my hiney. No doubt I furnished her many opportunities. Who knew she wouldn't appreciate my gift of live garter snakes? I was just bringing nature into the classroom for all to enjoy. She used a paddle with holes drilled in it. Once she hit me so hard it knocked the wind out of me. I refused to give her the satisfaction of me crying. (P.S. What on earth was unhelpful about ClassicTVFan's review?)

As a special education teacher I see many students struggle in first grade. If they can't learn to read in first grade they struggle with it every year. That is why I think first grade is so important!

I had this evil lady who terrorized little kids as my teacher. When someone didn't follow directions, she would scream at them You clean out those FILTHY ears of yours I dreaded going to school every morning

I had a NASTY old biddy as a first grade teacher. I once had to have my face facing the school building as punsihment during recess for...get this...PICKING DANDELIONS! I also knew someone a few years old older than me that got nasty stomach pains almost on a daily basis when he had this woman as a teacher. It's no coinidence that they went away for good once school ended.

In first grade, I got to give weather reports to my class on a chart with a smiling sun and such. I still have the notebook of the forecasts that I wrote down. I also made my first good friend in first grade, whom I played NES with constantly. My teacher was real nice and PE was really fun too.

This is the year that school starts to get boring. I also had a rude teacher.
