Enjoyable towards the end, but like most kids entering high school for the first time, I went through a period of three or four months where I was lost among the masses.

Our school system is weird in that we have 7-9 junior high and 10-12 grade high school, so that's probably why this ranks pretty low on the list because for most people, this was their first of high school actually attending the high school. You could also participate in high school sports as a freshman still. I can't forget 9th grade because it brings back a lot of firsts for me, mostly involving members of the opposite sex. I attended my first school dance that year and went out with a girl I liked. I also made my friendships more meaningful before I transitioned to go to the actual high school. I knew that next year, things wouldn't be nearly the same.

My first year as a high school freshman was a great one. In fact, I still have wonderful memories of the very first day. Like my first day of middle school (and college), I was nervous going in and smiling going out. I reunited with old friends from the higher grades that I had made during early years of middle school, and made new ones. The speech class made it where I loved to give presentations--especially humorous, pun-filled ones. And, I had some other great teachers, especially my History teacher. It was around this year I began writing Gopher's Gateway (thus named for the school's mascot--the Golden Gopher) for my friends. My self-esteem, confidence, and optimism also continued to blossom as well.

Pretty crappy year, academically, socially, athletically, you name it. Started getting into some seriously nasty trouble.

I had a lot of fun my freshman year. It wasn't too hard, and there were lots of things to do during school.

The worst! Trying to fit in and not knowing alot of the older kids was hard.

Ah, the beginning of high school. New building, new friends, new teachers, new environment, and in my case, changing classrooms every period was new. It was quite exciting for me at first, though by the end of the year, it just felt like...school.
