 | SuKingsANDKnights300 (14) 09/02/2008 | Jesus?...who was Jesus? Jesus was believed to be son of God. Born by virgin Mary. Died to save mankind. Do we ahve an other Jesus? No. Is Jesus devine power? We don't know yet, but the bible does tell so. Can we just call anybody to Jesus? God says that, anybody putting himself instead of his son, is blaspheming, and has a very designated wine to drink with him. Does God find us to be funny-crazy?...Yes HE DOES, and that's why he calls us ignorant planet. Yes, Jesus is not here on EARTH. But for me though, my believe is in God alone, God the father. Nature is also said to be God himself. That's my own theory.

Does anyone agree that the title of this list makes "The Bible" sound like it's supposed to be a fairytale because it uses the word "Character" instead of simply saying "People in the Bible."

 | ILikePie (53) 04/16/2008 | Whether you believe in him or not, he came up with a brilliant ethical theory which millions of people worldwide still (try to, at least) follow, unlike the many myriads of so-called wise men who have tried to make them and failed. He talked down the personification of evil a couple of times, told all of his followers to drink wine in his memory, and then to cap it all off he sacrificed himself to save everyone on Earth. Pretty decent fellow, don't you think?

 | lmorovan (15) 04/08/2008 | Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the Second Person of the Trinity of God. While on earth and in a human body, Jesus divested Himself of all divine powers and attributes and lived like an ordinary man. What made Him so extraordinary is His total, absolute and permanent dependence on the will of God, something that we are all called to emulate, yet very few, if any, can.

Rates a three star because of his impact on ensuing Western culture, especially in literature and visual art. Because he was the son of God, he was not a prophet, for if he was a prophet of "Allah" saying he is the son of God, they would probaly think of him as a disgrace. If you live in Christ and He lives in you, you are a Christian! You must be born again, but if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, even Christ Jesus! But if Jesus asked me to rate myself as a Christian, I would have to say, Lord, I am least of all your Brethern. | Caretaker (1) 12/17/2005 | 1 Tim. 3:
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
John 3:
16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Romans 10:
9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

 | knowhim (3) 12/15/2005 | Jesus Christ is more than a system, tradition, or belief. He is a Person who knows our needs, feels our pain, and sympathizes with our weakness. In exchange for our trust, He offers to forgive our sins, to intercede for us, and to bring us to His Father. He cried for us, died for us, and rose from the dead to show that He was all He claimed to be. Conquering death, He showed us that He can save us from our sins, live His life through us on earth, and then bring us safely to heaven. He offers Himself as a gift to anyone who will trust Him ( John 20:24-31). www.christjesus.us

 | Ash_Williams (0) 10/31/2005 | Jesus is AWESOME. TO Ignatius, again, you're shocked so many believed him, right? It's like there was truth in what he was saying or something, right? I mean how many times has someone claimed to be The Messiah and millions of people believed him? Just once. Even if it is a way to cope with difficult situations, what's wrong with that, jerk? To al the people making jokes about water into wine, eg. I only liked how he could turn water into booze-because that's all I know about Jesus I didn't actually read the Bible so I don't know that he was constantly questioned about being the Son of GOd as each time the person who asked was handed their ass on a siver platter witha ll the trimmings. Right?

 | drimzef (6) 10/25/2005 | When I was a kid Jesus was my superhero, based on a movie. I mean, James Bond was cool, but he had a weakness for the girls which always got him into trouble. Sherlock Holmes was cool, but he had cocaine, and boredom that drove him mad. Then I saw a movie about Jesus and it blew my mind. When someone hits you, you turn the other cheek, and don't even care about it, and love the one who hit you. The idea was mindboggling to me. It didn't make me want to be a follower like I see most Christians do. It made me want to do my own thing, because Jesus did his own thing no matter what people said or did. He knew what he was doing, and had no weakness, he was full of love.
He was absolutely nothing like the people who now use his name a lot to make money selling books and stuff to 'help' people get a better life.
Jesus healed for free. He showed me that miracles can really happen if you believe with all your heart. He gave me a chance to try to be optimistic in every situation.
One of my main inspirations, thank you Jesus.

 | rowbite (0) 10/06/2005 | How did Jesus get a lower rating then Abraham, Daniel, Paul, and Job? Did they do something more important than Jesus? Are we saved through Abraham, Daniel, Paul, or Job? Where is this world coming to when we think higher of them then Jesus Christ, the son of God. You would think Jesus would be ranked number one.

 | angrykoopa (1) 09/26/2005 | He deserves a five simply because he created a religion that lasted to this day as dominant religion.
Plus, he never did anything bad, so that's a five in my book.
I hate people who pervert his words, though. I also think the Bible is an embarassment to his name.

 | dragonman (4) 09/08/2005 | I give him a 5 for his teachings and for being my Lord and Savior, it's the very least I could do.

 | todays_thought (1) 08/04/2005 | Jesus is the most influential person in my life. Anything less than a five would be wrong from me.
It doesn't surprise me when I see some people give a rating of a 1 or 2. I'm not surprised Jesus isn't in the number one spot on this list of Bible Characters. Actually, I would want people to be passionate about what they believe about Jesus. You either believe he was the Son of God or you Don't. If you don't believe He is the Son of God, the Savoir of your Soul, then you better live it up now.
Unfortunately there are people that have twisted the teachings of Jesus to give them (what they feel is) the right to do outrageous acts. These people are deceived by their own thoughts and the king of deception. People like this where around in Jesus's day as well. Jesus loved them just the same as anyone else. He hated what they did, but loved them.
There are many things in this world I do not agree with and get me quite angry. That doesn't mean I hate the person. I don't agree with Gay Marriages, but that doesn't mean I hate a gay person. I have an Uncle who is gay and married to another man. I don't hate him. I don't agree at all with his decision. My Jesus loves him, so do I.
When sins are talked about in the Bible, there are not given ranking. They are listed on an equal basis. Unfortunately we still have to deal with the consequences of those sins.
A person who commits adultery has to deal with the pain caused to the faithful partner. If children are involved, the pain and mistrust they have caused their children as well.
A teenaged person who gets pregnant out of marriage because of their decision to have sex before marriage. Will still have to deal with how they are going to handle it. Their life will be altered no matter what decision they make. If they choose to give birth to the baby (which I believe every one should do) they have to accept the fact they will have a tougher time at the start of their life than others. If they decide to have the baby and give it up for adoption. They will always wonder, in the back of their mind, whatever became of their child. If they decide to have an abortion (which I DON'T believe should be the decision), they will have to live with the possibility they may not be able to have children again, may not recover emotionally. As the years pass they will think about what might have been. As for the guy who gets her pregnant, he has many decisions as well. Will he help the mother with raising the baby and will he be able to see the baby? The same questions for the mother go for the father if adoption or abortion is decided.
The person who robs the bank will have to live with always mistrusting people and looking over his/her shoulder wondering if someone is after him. If he is caught, he will serve time. A person who murders, etc....
I could go on and on. Every single act has a consequence. No matter what the act, Jesus still loves the person. How many people in this world can do that? Mother Teresa, maybe she was able to. Billy Graham, maybe he was able to. Me? I try to and that proves my need for a Saviour.
Jesus is giving the highest mark I am able to give. I can think of no other person in the history of this world that has had a bigger impact on people's lives. Sure people have killed in Jesus's name. People are being killed because of Jesus's name. People are being killed in Mohammands name and have been throughout the Muslim history. The Bible doesn't teach to kill people if they don't believe in Jesus. The Koran doesn't teach to kill if someone doesn't believe in it's teachings as well.
There are bad apples in every group, that should not define the group. Just because there are men that are rapists, doesn't mean that all men are rapists. Because a women is a prostitute doesn't mean all women are prostitutes. Nor should Jesus be thought of as an evil person or the most destructive influence in the history of the world. Some of his followers have killed or bombed and claimed it was in the name of Jesus. It wasn't, it was in their hatred of people that they killed. Jesus didn't kill one person on this earth, so don't say it was in the name of Jesus.
For those of you who say that Jesus would have been institutionalized if he lived now. You really don't realized who Jesus was. I'm not sure how Jesus would have come to earth if he had waited till the year 2005. I'm sure he would have decided to come in a way that he would be able to touch people. People thought he was crazy while he was alive and some people still do, obviously.
For those of you who feel Jesus didn't have much of a personality. If he didn't have much of a personality, why in the world did every type of person want to be around him? How many people who lack personality do you hang out with. There was something about Jesus that caused people to WANT to be around him. I wouldn't say he was a bore.
