Jonah is a typical example of what God can do despite the opposition of the person. His story is an example of rebellion, repentance and submission. (Add picture)

"Feel like Jonah in the belly of the whale! ..." Boy! Talk about a man who had a bad day, you know? I guess it could have been a whole lot worse. He could have been attacked by a shark!

God will accomplish His will regardless of whether the person will it or not. Another example that God is in total and absolute control, and that He allows us to stumble, fall and get hurt, it that is what we wish to do. Eventually, we come to our senses and find the joy and security in obeying God.

It was actually funny when Jonah was just trying to wriggle away from God's hand, to wind up the mission, and begun to create his own mission of going his won. But because God is almighty, and nowhere to dodge him, or change his plans, he just used a very simple fight.: The fish swallowed Jonah, and vomitted him offshore to Nineveh. "There..you are..you must folow your orders given to you by God"...looked like that was what the whale said to Jonah. When I read that story, it really makes me laugh with pride, and fear God most above all things. Man....nothing is terrific like being swallowed by such a huge animal, and stay there for three consecutive days in the gut. Really terrifying experience. I think Jonah did not struggle anymore after this phenomenon.

I like Jonah, but I don't. Yes it was great that he finally repented and went to Nineveh and preached to them so they would repent. But what I dislike about Jonah is he was mad that the Ninevites repented! Jonah wanted God to destroy the city and was angry because God showed compassion on that great city. Jonah totally missed the picture and was very ungrateful.
