It's funny how it's easy to be sentimental about a speech so well-written and appropriate, so non-political as this one is. This man had just received a sort-of death sentence and accepted it with grace and dignity. It's almost funny, even at the time of his death, some show him no respect, taking their cheap shots calling him either evil or stupid. Too bad.

As silly as it sounds I still get tears in my eyes when I read it. as I ride off into the twilight of my life I know this nation's brightest days are ahead

It's tough to read this one without getting a tear in the eye. Reagan was a class act right to the end. Apparently this was written out by hand in one draft over a couple hours. What a naturally great communicator the Gipper was.
