It's unfortunate that the speech where Reagan talked about funding and training Al Quaeda didn't make it on the list, or the speech where he talked about funding and arming Saddam Hussein,or what about the one where he would cut all domestic funding and dump it into the military. What about the one when he talked about changing the tax laws so corporations would go from paying 60% of the taxes in this country to 6% costing tax payers billions of dollars. What a great guy.

Peggy Noonan has spoken about how this was more than a moving tribute. There is a wonderful subtext reminding our allies in Europe -- then arguing with the U.S. over missile deployments, etc -- to hang together to defeat communism, after all these boys of Pointe du Hoc defeated the Nazis. Hang together. Wish Bush could have made a similar plea before Iraq, though maybe the French are now so corrupted there's no bringing them back into the fold...
