My son put his triops in water 2 days ago and we're still not seeing anything. How long does it usually take before you can see them? Did we do something wrong?

I think this creatures are quite comical and very entrtaining. Their features are more distinct thean that of a sea monkey. Yay!!! Triops!! My friends and I in my class all agree triops are #1!

Triops are amazing; i think they're waaaay cooler than a bunch of sea monkeys. They actually cannabilize! They cannabilize because they will eat anything organic, like misqito larve. I have gotten over ten packs of the little critters; turns out that they can live for up to three months! The only con to having triops is that you have to remove the water(after they die) for 60 days so that their eggs can hatch when you refill the tank.

My mom bought one of those Instant Pets kits at some store for me a few years ago. The thing had both triops and sea monkeys AKA brine shrimp, but the latter were tiny and not all that much fun. The triops were little horseshoe crab-looking things (I read somewhere they're the closest relatives of the extinct trilobites) that hatched from little packets of eggs in suspended animation. 24 hours after I put them in a tank of water, I had hordes of little triops swimming around and devouring one another. Only one survived (which was normal), and he grew to about an inch, but I hear they can become massive three-inch-long beasts if they survive long enough. It was fun watching the little guy double in size every day, and with little maintenance. The downside was his tank got grimy after a while, but I couldn't do anything about it or risk killing him.
