A great guitarist with a very unique sound and playing style. He's very good ad giving a song just what it needs and nothing more. He has his long solo's onstage (brighton Rock). One of the most underrated guitarists and together with Mark Knopfler totally instantly recognizable (you need one note to know it's him /them). There aren't many guitarists with a very own sound and way of playing. BTW: also a very good songwriter, all of them were/are good songwriters, that was one of strengths of Queen.

Brian May is a talented guitarist. May was part of the reason why Queen was so great in the first place. He is getting on now, but he had a wide range back in the day. He seems to be pretty learned as well, in regard to P.hd degrees.

I despise his transformation of Queen after Freddy's death and i don't think he's too hot on the guitar either, so a 3 is in this case generous (only because of some of Queen's catchy songs mind).

Possibly the greatest innovative and technical player in the 20th century. He brought many bluegrass and violin/fiddle sensibility to rock music. Every solo is a complete orchestration on its own, nested within the song. best solo? Good ol Fashioned Lover Boy -Best song? Play the Game

brian May has his own sound that is on of the most unique in rock. He tends to be overlooked when the greats are discussed, but his searing riffs accounted for as much of Queens sound as freddies incredible voice.

I got a bias towards him, of course, Queen being my favorite band as all of you know, but man, he can play! Acoustic and electric, fast or slow, with real feeling and emotion. The guitar part in the song 39 made me tear up. And for the Foo Fighters nuts out there, that's him doing the guitar on Tired Of You...awesome, just awesome. Occasionally he'll slip - have a solo that's too long or too loud - but most of the time he's brilliant and his solo work is outstanding. Kudos!
