The "Gary Glitter" of guitar. Elementary talent who played to his limitations well.

Pete will always be Pete. He was being truthful when confronted with that incident a few years back. Cut him some slack. Greatness like this does't last forever.

The inventor of feedback, windmills, jumps, the destruction of an instrument as an art form, countless power chords - The whole lot! My favourite Guitarist, you seen him play live? He will never be beaten!

This is currently one of my sister's favorite musicians. Although we sometimes disagree on what we consider talent, I respect the fact that she likes a variety of musicians and musical styles (I am somewhat picky). She is a self taught guitarist and takes playing very seriously. A few days ago she got the opportunity to play the guitar with which Townshend recorded Pinball Wizard. Although it wouldn't have meant nearly as much to me, she was ecstatic when she called home (the guitar resides in England) to tell me about it. I am very happy for her and I will be forever grateful that she got the chance to do something that meaningful and extraordinary to her.

Up there in my top 5 guitarist of all time, and I kinda beleive his research alibi for the kiddy porn.

The greatest live electric guitarist in the entire history of rock. The film The Kids Are Alright and Live at Leeds emphatically explain why.

I think he deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. Sign the petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/garjen

If you combine the ability to play rhythm guitar as well as lead guitar as well as put on a stage show (jumping, the windmill) - he is the best.

Overlooked and underrated. Extremely articulate and expressive player who shows up well in both acoustic and electric styles. Did positively great work in Quadrephenia. Never needed a second guitarist to back him. One of the best songwriters of the rock and roll era, as well, and led one of the top bands of all time.

Too bad he had to get involved in kiddy porn and that he lost his hearing. He was still a great guitarist.

An underrated genius on the guitar, and one of rock's most athletic players. There's a reason just about every great guitarist lists him as one of their biggest influences.
