Mr. Rayburn was the prototypical game show host. Gracious, comedic, and entertaining. He was one of the best.

probably one of the more well known game show hosts. mostly for Match Game. he handled the show well. got to admit I stopped watching the show after awhile not because of him but got tired of the constant inuendos.

Took a silly, stupid show and made it go. Without him, it would have been gone in 13 weeks.

Even when I watch him on those old Match Game 75 reruns on Game Show Network, his wit and ability to play the audience is still refreshing and funny. Other than Groucho Marx on You Bet Your Life, no other game show host is so synonomous with his show as Gene Rayburn and Match Game.
