 | Rock1234 (6) 07/09/2008 | Cooper is a blast to see live. He is a theatrical rocker which means he puts on a big production show. I always respect bands that know how to put a production for fans considering the cost of tickets today. While I normally am into heavier bands, I like Alice's catalog of music and respect the energy he still has live. He usually has top notch musicians in his band and he has a real rock voice. Cooper actually has decent lyrics and can do a variety of styles which separates him from other theatrical bands like KISS ,who don't really have the songs.
LOL-To respond to one poster, I have seen Motorhead (a band I like) and Cooper both and I have never seen Lemmy blow Alice off the stage. Cooper is one of the few bands that are hard to top live. Priest and Maiden are the only two shows that ever compared to me.

 | Budc9512om (2) 07/09/2008 | I have seen Motorhead and Alice Cooper on the same bill many times and Motorhead have never blown Alice Cooper away. Cooper is too good on stage, but how can you really compare the two styles. It is a stupid argument and fitman your spamming of Motorhead turns people off, not turn people on. Cooper is an originator of a lot of things. I have met Alice Cooper and he is a class act and very nice guy. In the early 60's and 70's, Alice had a big drinking problem and made some mistakes but he cleaned himself up. I don't think judging a group of kids in 1969 makes much sense.
Katrina did an effective job of explaining Cooper as a live act. The guy is fun, has a strong stage presence and while progressive metal is more my thing than straight up hard rock, I think Alice is one of the greats. He has good songs and a very fun show. His fanbase is among the most loyal in the business. I would definitely go see Alice again.
I think others have said this before, but Alice is a theatrical rocker, his type of show is different than Motorhead's. If you come to see Motorhead, you are going to like them better more than likely. If you are going to see Alice, you are going to like him better. The thing that is silly fitman is how you keep adding things so your post will make it to the top. Do you need some diapers or something? Get real man!

 | fitman (38) 07/08/2008 | OK, but I saw him open for Motorhead at a heavy metal festival in the midwest and Lemmy blew him away.
And he wasn't the first to do theatrical rock (or wear makeup on stage - ever hear of Little Richard?). Here's a taste of another guy Alice stole a bit from:

UPDATE:
Alice's fans have jogged my memory, so I must post these corrections: Motorhead did indeed go on before Alice when I saw them in the midwest. In fact, I now recall leaving after two interminably boring Alice numbers. They're also right in saying there's no comparing the two bands. Alice was 100% show business - with emphasis on business. Motorhead, on the other hand, were (and still are) all about being real.
UPDATE:
I first saw Alice Cooper Upstairs at Max's Kansas City in 1969. Based on the show, I thought they were pretty cool, but then I met them.
First time I saw Motorhead, they were in the middle of a bill at The Roundhouse that starred The Damned, with Johnny Moped as the opening act. It was funny to watch the spikey heads head for the bar while the long hairs cheered on Lemmy and the boys, and then to see the two groups of fans switch places for The Damned's set. Of the 1,500 who attended, only about 30 got the point and enjoyed all three groups.

 | Katrinabena (20) 07/08/2008 | I think a few of you just don't get it. Alice is theatrical rock, he never claimed otherwise. Alice is very vauldvillian, but he also has 14 Top 40 singles so the songs are there. He has done some scaled down shows in the past as well. All of the shock rock bands use theater, and most of the hair bands use theatrical flair as well. Ever seen Motley Crue for example? Cooper set the standard for a lot of the 80's and 90's bands stageshows. Whether it is your thing or not is your business but I have to agree with Longleggs, for a certain someone to always come and try to post Motorhead junk doesn't help Motorhead it makes me want to listen to them even less.

 | longleggs (2) 07/08/2008 | I want to see a rock show when I got to a concert and I think I enjoyed Alice's show more than 95 percent of the bands I have seen and I have seen a lot. I think Alice is one of the greats. His shows are about having fun. I hate to tell a few of you but all hard rock and metal shows have an element of cheese to them. Cooper makes his shows fun and that is what it is about, it is not to be taken seriously. I have seen around ten Alice shows and he was great everytime.
Fitman, no disrespect but your comments are stupid. You are trying to push Motorhead on people. I saw Motorhead once open up for someone (they are always opening up) and Lemmy seemed like he would rather be anywhere than playing because the crowd was definitely not into it except for a select few. If you are not an Alice fan great, but to go all over the place and try to promote Motorhead when talking about other bands (not just Alice, I have seen other places as well) is something a three year old brat would do.

 | irishgit (145) 07/08/2008 | Saw him twice, once when I was just out of high-school and loved it, and then again twenty or so years later.
Age brings perspective, or at least it does in this case. The show is more about the theatrics than the music, and while I was overwhelmed by this (and a pretty impressive performance of "School's Out" at seventeen) it seemed contrived and almost tawdry by the time I was nearly forty.

 | Steamroller3 (6) 07/04/2008 | I have seen Alice live a bunch of times and he is definitely in the Top 5 live acts I have ever seen. An amazing live performer with an underrated voice.

 | Missynotprissy (3) 07/03/2008 | I have been to several Alice shows and everyone of them has been wonderful. Either you like that type of theatrics or you don't. Alice plays and normally headlines a lot of festival shows these days but Alice is best when he doesn't have a shortened set. I love to watch the guy perform and he is definitely in my top Five all time performers. I see there is alot of discussion between Alice and Motorhead. I saw Motorhead once and every song sounds the same to me just a bunch of noise. You definitely can't compare those bands so I agree with Barbspeakes on that one. I would rather see Alice than just about anyone live.

 | Barbspeakes (2) 07/02/2008 | I have seen Motorhead open for Alice three times through the years and you can't compare the two musical styles so what the last two posters say is apple and oranges. Concerning the other stuff, you both are partially right. Little Richard did wear some makeup but not in the sense that Alice did with the ghoulish clown makeup. Once again it is a different kind of rock. Alice was the innovator for theatrical HARD rock and it was him he influnced the hard rock and metal bands. Little Richard was an influence too but not the same audience. Concerning the theatrics, Richard had a flair, and there was a few bands like Count Basie and Screaming Jay Hawkins but there's was less planned out and prop oriented. Alice built an entire show around the theatrics. WTMN is arguably the best tour ever. He still is very theatrical today. I remember Motorhead opening for Alice one year and the real heavy thrash fans were clearly there for Lemmy, and the ones more into hard rock and theatrics for Alice. You can't compare the two. Personally I prefer Cooper and his show to Motorhead but it is just a matter of personal tastes. Cooper is one of my favorite live acts to see.

 | Scot9447om (3) 07/01/2008 | I have been to over 200 concerts and when people ask who is the best live act I have ever seen, it is definitely Alice Cooper. Even today at 60, the guy blows me away on stage. He is amazing. He does a lot of his 70's material live along with a blend of newer tracks. His last five albums have been terrific. Love to watch the guy perform.

 | oscargamblesfro (78) 08/22/2007 | Musically, I find him to be all over the map- some good and fairly unique stuff, some silly, overrated, or bland material. The show was indeed a spectacle though, and he, for better or worse, did help bring a sense of theatricality back into rock, so I think it'd be interesting if nothing else.

 | FranksWildYears (52) 08/22/2007 | He's like the James Brown of the metal set. He puts it on every night and gives the crowd what the paid for, down and dirty, sleazy rock. Still touring hard into his 4th decade on the road.
