Not terrible, but terribly overrated.

Some great electric work in his heydey. Won't put him at the highest level- but ask rock guitarists how easy they think it is to match him note-for-note.

Oh boy, here we go again. I note with interest that this list is a more straight forward opportunity to generally rate guitarists in the rock milieu, whereas the prior battle ground was the much broader Greatest Guitarist of All Time or something of the sort, which rolled the fields of jazz, folk, classical, new age, country/bluegrass and anything else into the playing field. In this more discreet category Eddie would certainly rate highly, if only and appease the rabid fanatics who will go on at length convincing you that the blinding speed and precision of his arpeggios are unequalled in the known universe and his tapping is sans parallel.

Eddie is the best of all-time and he has absolutely no equals!

He's really invented shreading, but was kind of sloppy. I don't think he diserved to have the whole band named after him.

sorry eddie, you arent easy to get along with and the finger tapping method that YOU got the credit for...is actually rock bassist virtuoso Billy Sheehan's

I'd rank him number three alltime. Electrifying stuff.

Really insane. Where did that solo on Beat It come from anyway?
