UPDATE: He was swept out of office in the 2006 Democratic landslide. My solid for re-election comment wasn't too prophetic, was it? ORIGINAL COMMENT: He does a pretty good tapdance for a Republican in Rhode Island. He is solid for re-election!

How can you dislike this guy? If your a Democrat, he's pro-choice, for stem-cell research, opposed to the war, and for energy independence. If your a Republican, he supports tax cuts, just not the Bush/Allen tax cuts for the wealthy, and he follows moral values.

Actually facing a tough fight against a Democrat this fall- if he wins the primary challenge from an arch conservative. Votes with Democrats most of the time- considering RI is perhaps after Mass the most Democratic state. A moderate to liberal republican- but still has that 'R' after his name- which in the current political envirionment of increasing polarity makes him vulnerable. From my view over in Connecticut it seems he could be in trouble.

Classic countryclub eastcoast republican. Last classic countryclub eastcoast republican. The party is now dominated by the segregationists who used to be in the democratic party.

A moderate senator from a state that is often dwarfed by my bowel movements.
