This show aired when there was a deluge of detective shows, and I think it was probably the best one. James Garner was sexy, likable and believable as Jim Rockford.

One of the shows I miss.

This isn't the type of program I usually watch, but I had to make an exception with this one. There was something about James Garner that was so funny and vulnerable, and a lot of us could identify with his frustrations. This show had a nice mix of comedy and drama. (good theme song too)

Easily one of the most neglected shows of all time. Should have been a bit more varied, but I doubt that Mr. Garner would've gone in for that. Fun, moved along nicely, and didn't need a PhD to figure out. As always, the ensemble cast made it what it was. NOTE: Ask anyone to whistle the theme song, and 85% will do it.

A true classic.

No other private invesigator or detective show holds a candle to Jim Rockford. James Garner was superbly cast and made eacdh and every show worth watching. Jimmy seems like a great guy to hang around with and put back a few beers. Rockford was never flashy. He'd get beaten up in most episodes. He'd always get back up to get the job done, many times with no thanks at all. If you'd like to hire him, look for the trailer parked on the beach. $200 a day, plus expenses.
