09/14/2003 | The Birdman was the driving force behind the majority of Queen's music. As he was in the shadows much of the time and rarely spoke or did interviews, no one ever noticed him. But he wrote many, many of the band's best songs and I was blown away by the Dragon Attack bassline. Even critics who hammer the band, and there are many, usually admit that Deacon is a good bassist, and with good reason.
