UPDATE: He got tired of the rat race and back-stabbing in the Senate and did not run in 2006. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Will he stand the test of time? He got stabbed in the back by McCain, and it will be interesting to see how he recovers.

What a bootlicker. I firmly believe bush has used the NSA to spy on this butthole, found the skeletons, and frist backs whatever bush's traitor act of the day is. Has NO problem taking away our rights granted by the Constitution. In bed with abramoff despite being wealthy already. Would like to put the whole Lott of them in Gitmo.

He's a thief. Should in the prison yard breaking rocks rather than in the most exclusive Old Boy's Club on the planet.

I despise this man and cringe at his sight! He is a raving lunatic neocon elitist who kowtows to the religious right. VERY dangerous for the United States and U.S. policy.

Not only is he a bad doctor he's a bad senator.

Born into a billionaire family, this rich dork said Schiavo was alert knowing full well that it was incorrect. Political opportunist who hopes he can become president by courting the mentally retarded (religious zealots). After 8 years of the Bush disaster he doesn't have a snowball chance in hell, which is where he will likely reside after his death.

he needs to get back to being a doctor

According to Dr. Frist, Ms. Schaivo is just fine, New Orleans is a thriving city and the Twin Towers are still standing.

frist is a whack-job. he's pretty much out of step w/mainstream society but if your definition of mainstream is ultra-conservative then this guy is probably for you.

Excellent senator and I am proud to call myself a Tennessean with Senator Frist as my representative!

The good doctor is a great man. Could have been more assertive as majority leader. Will be the consensus pick for '08. Will come down to him, McCain, and George Allen.

Im not too certain that he has been the most effective majority leader. I think his problem by and large stems from the fact that he doesn't engage in hardball politics, which many times entails a certain give and take. A willingness to deal seems to be something that is sorely lacking in Washington today--such an approach doesn't make Frist's job any easier. Compounding his problems, it seems to me that he has had a bit of a learning curve with regards to understanding the ways and rules of the Senate. In such an institution, an effective leader must understand and use the rules to effect the outcome which he/she desires. Lyndon Johnson was the master at this, Frist's predecessor Trent Lott was also an inside player who knew the rules very well. Frist has a nice political persona, but when it comes down the wire, he melts under the pressure. On more complex issues and legislation, Frist tends to take an absolutist stand early on, thus weakening his hand in later stages where compromise efforts are needed to pass a law; there a senate leader needs every bit of political leeway he can get. Take for instance the whole filibuster issue a couple of months ago. Frist said in November of 2004 that the Senate rules should be changed to ban filibusters on judicial nominees. After 6 months of heel digging on the part of Frist, a bi-partisaned group of 14 moderate senators came to an agreement without the majority leaders consent. All this shows that he really isn't up to the job, at least not yet. It would have been advisable for the Republicans to have picked someone with a little more legislative experience, rather than a face that makes the party look good. Indeed, as his actions in the Terri Schiavo where he questioned whether she was in a persistent vegetative state by looking at film footage of her and coming to a diagnosis without looking at her medical records or how he handled the judicial filibusters, he is trying to appeal to the fringe elements of the Republican party in time for his run for the presidency in 2008. However, juggling his responsibilities as Senate leader with running for president are coming into conflict, as being Senate majority leader requires compromise and moderation. Bankruptcy reform, the Medicare subsidy which passed last year and the highway bill are some accomplishments which Frist trumps, but many of these bills were pushed through either with no Democrats or in the case of Medicare reform, with several conservative Republicans, who objected to the major cost of the bill. He's had wins, albeit they haven't been 'clean' in the sense that they have been major feats.

The majority leader thinks he has a shot at the u.s.presidency. Hah! Yeah, we elected George jr. twice, but if we actually elect this hyper-religious screwball prez, we're in MUCH bigger trouble than ever suspected.

Right wing dumb bell- who as an MD. should be more objective. Very ambitious- but has nothing too offer the North American entity of the USA-Way too southern American, with a narrow prospective of civil war America.
